Late Night Visit... Late last night, we had to make a run to the 24hr. vet clinic, when Magic started having very running poop and was not acting like herself :( ...luckly we have one that is not too far from us and we were able to take her right away...they tested her for worms and several other things (sorry can't remember it all)...but they determined it to be a GI track infection...they said that it would pass and gave us some medicine to give her to help it out...she hasn't thrown up or anything so that is a good sign but she is still not acting like herself...she doesn't really want to play but rather just wander around or sleep :animal-sm ...does this sound normal?? should I still be worried??...are GI track infections common??...how can they be prevented??? |
Lil Mis' Magic Gosh How scary! I can't help you with the questions other than to watch her really close. Call the vet if you are concerned at all. He should answer your questions. I think they should tell y ou what to look out for when they leave the office so you know what is normal and what is not. Let us know! We will keep her in our prayers! Pat |
Well I'll pray for her! I don't really know how to help, but I would suggest running to a bookstore and picking up a book on dog healthcare. Every dog owner should have one (I just ordered one last week offline). It should have some useful information on how these infections happen, what to do when they happen, how to prevent them, etc. Hope she gets well soon! :aimeeyork |
I am soo sorry. I really don't have any info for you but Luigi and myself hope and pray that Lil Mis Magic will be okay!! :animal-sm Luigi is sending lots of puppy love and puppy kisses! |
Poor little Magic! So sorry ... I haven't experienced anything like this but one important thing anytime one is sick is to make sure they drink! They can dehydrate very quickly, especially when there is loose stools. Also if you don't already give NutriCal ... I would ask the vet, but would think giving a little several times a day would be in order. It has lots of vitamins and the sugar will help keep her energy level up. We use the veterinary formula for Toto. Hope she improves quickly ... please keep us updated. Toto sends sweet puppy kisses! :) |
By GI you mean Gastro Intestinal Infection? If is to...Mojo had something like that caused by something he ate (probably a pastic pen for which i found "pieces":() He was on vomiting and diarreah medication for 2 days, had a shot at the vet and was on the ID prescription diet food for a few days. I notice that every time Mojo is on any kind of medication he acts weird, is not as affectionate and active as usual...so that might be why your lil girl is like that. Good news are that Mojo got soooo much better within 24 hours, so hopefully she will be back to her old self soon! Keep us posted!! |
I am sorry to read that Magic isn't feeling like herself. I also am not too familiar with her diagnosis but I do hope she get's to feeling more like herself soon. |
