Loves to be outside!! Help!!! The only thing Luigi wants to do is go outside!!! :animal-sm Usually I don't mind but its only 31 degrees out and I am sooooo sick! :( I had to call off work today, I think its the flu. But I can't keep going out. But he's been whining at the door and just staring at it. Looks at me and barks and whines some more. I'll take him out to peepee and stuff and he goes and usually he runs right back in but he just sits there and wants to lay down. We even still have snow on the ground. I am so afraid of frostbite. When I call him to come in he puts his nose in the air. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. I just brought him in again and all he's doing is scratching at the door. This past time he didn't even have to peepee. He stutted his stuff out to the grass and layed right down as if to go to sleep!! :animal-sm I even opened all the blinds so he could sit at the windows and look outside, but he still runs to the door! I have never seen him act like this. :lol tears I just want to sleep but he won't let me :animal-sm ! HELP!!! any suggestions? |
do you have a crate? You might put him in that while you take a nap. The vet has me cover my crate with a blanket so she can't see me at night. Might try that! Other than that , I guess just let him out when you think he needs to go. They can sure bother one with their whining to play or etc., can't they? I give mine Greenies when she gets to me. She will usually go to sleep after eating one. Good luck! Pat |
I agree with Pat, greenies do the trick! My Bounce adores those things. Just let him out when you think he actually has to go to the bathroom. Otherwise, crate him if you can and if not, just plop him up in the bed with you and see if he'll take a nap with ya. Bouncer usually agreeingly goes to sleep if I put him in bed with me. Hope you work something out! I've been sick too and I know how annoying these buggers can get when all you want to do is rest! Poor things, they just can't help themselves. :) |
I usually put him in his crate when I leave the house, so I did do that earlier. He was barking and barking for at least 1/2 hour. The crate is in my bed room, so I shut the door and came out on the couch. He must have sensed that I was still here. I have been trying to get him to calm down since 1:00. Its now 3:30. Thanks for greenie suggestion- I think its working. I usually only give him one at bedtime. :thumbs up Maybe now I can relax!!! |
I hear ya on the wanting to be outside issue. Hercules is almost 6 months, so when he goes to the door, we always think he needs to go to the bathroom. But we just got some snow, and he loves the snow. So he really just wants out to play! We can't really ignore most of his urges to go outside though, since we're still potty training. It's crazy to me though - doesn't he realize how cold it is!!??? :D |
Well, that didn't last long. We just came in from outside-AGAIN! :omg: So I bundled up and sucked it up and took him for a walk. When we got back to the house, he still didn't want to come inside. :( I am ready topull my hair out. He too is almost 6 mos old (5 1/2) I wish I had a yard with a fence so I could just let him out and not worry! He LOVES the snow too!!! And loves to eat it too!! :animal-sm |
Hi Miezzi. Sorry you're sick, but I must say that I am kind of jealous. My little guy will not even put ONE PAW outside. He hates it so much. I just don't want him to be cat-like. I wuld take their advice and try to get him to take a little nap with you :) |
Meizzi, I do hope you get well soon. :getwellso It is so very hard taking care of our babies when we don't feel too good. Luigi might be getting bored or something? Maybe if you have a couple "special" toys he can have just for those moments when you need some sleep time he will keep busy with the toys. |
I'm so sorry!! I know how you feel though, I was really sick for like 2 weeks. I've been over it for almost a week now. Good luck, and I hope you feel better! :getwellso |
Thanks for all your kindness!!! Luigi and I fell asleep for bout 1 hour, then the UPS man had a delivery and woke us up. My hubby gets home soon so hopefully Weegie won't be bored anymore :animal-sm . I am sure that is what it is. :( :( Also I am lovin all the new icons!! How fun!!! |
HOW FRUSTRATING!!!!!! I remember my Oscar doing that very same thing !!!!!!!! But he was old and I was forever worried he had to go...he would occ have accidents if I didn't let him out.......His last year or so, if I was home during the day, I swear he would go in and out and in and out and in and out.........I remember walking past him to the door mumbling..."you are NEVER going off to college, are you??"...I had to go downstairs to the back door from the basement....like a million times a day! UGH!!!!!!! I have a LARGE fenced yard (for the retired racer) and Oscar weighed 13 pounds, so there was no chance any hawk or owl would get him. The new Lil Bit loves to be outside but only if someone is with her....she is so small!!! I hope you feel better soon...yorkies can be relentless...I swear I would consider giving Oscar some cold medicine if I thought it would knock him out!!!! (JUST KIDDING!!!) |
Maybe he needs a brother or sister to play with. :animal-sm Cookie |
