Not Ollie, he loves them |
well At Xmas or Thanksgiving which is fast coming up; I always crate my dogs. They are used to their crates; it is their den, so no hardship for them. Then when all the guests are settled in, and comfortable and want to see the doggies, we bring one out at a time. We observe, we have on lead. We observe the children, some are too young, they can't help themselves, with running up, waving arms around, high pitched loud voices etc. Before we bring a dog out the kids are instructed by us, as what to do or not to do. If things don't go well the dog is crated, behind a locked door when children, company are around. |
Lucy loves attention and to be petted . . from anyone large or small. I usually keep it short with real young kids; couple quick pats and whisk her away - then thank them for being so gentle. I n e v e r let any of them pick her up. I like the suggestion about having the kids come in with a treat for your pup. He might learn to associate kids with 'good things'. |
Finnigan loves the kiddies...thinks he's one. Gwenndilyn... she is getting worse w/ kids as she gets older even nipping at them now. I think she's scared of them so, I've been crating her when at family functions to make her feel safer. |
