Ellie doesn't like bows Can anyone give me any suggestions of what to do when your baby girl doesn't like bows? She is such a tom boy. As soon as I put them in, and make sure they are not tight, she uses her front paws and pulls them out. I have tried all kinds of bows, the rubber band ones, the alligator clips (her hair is too thin) and the one with the other style of clip. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. |
I don't have any suggestions but I will bump this up for you :) Knox wont even let me put his hair back....he gets it out everytime! I finally gave up and cute his hair short  Good Luck! |
I would suggest putting her hair up with a grooming band first and getting her used to her hair being fixed up -- combing her hair and changing the band daily. After she's used to the band, start putting in the tiny 3/8" bows on her, as they're lighter weight. You can work your way up to the larger bows after that. |
Thank you for the response. I will go and get some of the grooming bands tonight. |
I tried putting bows on Zach but he went crazy, he was almost standing on his head. He looked like he was trying to do flips until I took the band out. What a shame, I just ordered a whole bunch of boy bows for him. |
It takes a few tries before I can get a bow into Poppy's hair. She usually lets me do it when she's sleepy and sitting on me knee, I stroke her head for a while so she gets used to me messing with her hair then put the bow in. Straight away I distract her with a toy or treat and she seems to forget its there. I agree that the grooming bands are best at first because they are light and they wont bother her as much as a bow, good luck! |
My boy won't tolerate the bows. He completely freaks out but my girl doesn't give a darn what you do to her. The groomer tied up her bow so tight today that her skin was in the rubberband and she was bleeding when i got home with her. Had to have the vet cut it out. Good luck gettting her to like her bows. |

No the groomer didn't notice. I haven't found a groomer yet that i like. Either they shave my kids to the bone or don't trim enough off. They have come home with fleas and nicks i wish i had the patients and talent to groom them myself |
Good luck on finding a new groomer! I'm glad I finally found a groomer I like around my area. I've been wanting to learn how to groom my dog for awhile now, but haven't had the time to yet. |

Lily is slowly allowing me to put clips in. I place them just before going out the door; once we're outside, she's so distracted that she forgets its in there. Until she gets tired and starts burrowing and rubbing her head all over the couch. |
It is taking a while but natalie is just now starting to tolerate a bow in her hair. I have to use the clips in hers because it is not that long. |
