Console car seat...do you hit your elbow?? I really like the thought of the console car seat so Bella can ride up front with DH and I on road trips. She looks so lonely in the backseat by herself. I was thinking of getting a console car seat but I'm wondering if not being able to use the console as an arm rest is going to be irritating. Also, it seems that you would hit your elbow all of the time on the car seat as well. |
I would worry about what would happen if the airbags were deployed in an accident. |
I think in most newer cars, the passenger side airbags will turn off if the weight in the seat is under a certain amount...I believe it is as a protection to kids under a certain weight limit. You should be able to read about it in your user manual. I know in my car, if the sensors in the passenger side sense there is something in the passenger seat under, I think, 45 lbs, a light comes on saying airbags are off. So, you could maybe feel somewhat more comfortable if you knew this was the case with your car and you had a passenger side booster seat, rather than a console seat. Although I know backseat is probably safest. (My dog gets sad back there too....he lives for his "rides"). :) |
For whatever reason....recently Zhoie who rides in her seat in the backseat has started shaking and panting during rides. I can tell it's very stressful for her now, so I too, have been thinking of ordering a console seat. Perhaps, if she is right at my elbow, she will feel more secure. I really don't like to see her like this, nor do I want to give her anything to calm.....errrr |
My Murano has the "Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant classification sensor". I'll have to research further to see exactly what that all means! |
I have the console seat and don't miss my armrest at all. I love how Snickers is right up there next to me and he loves looking out the window and being up high. I was concerned about hitting my elbow as well, but I don't at all. Smiles- Snick & Viv |
I'm gonna go for it. Maybe it will help Zhoie chill out some, being right there close. Where did you get yours from? Quote:

That's a great price. I ended up getting that one too.....large black quilted. I had a hard time deciding between regular & console type. Bella always rides up front so this works out great. It's actually a little too big for the console & I have Toyota 4Runner, but it does squeese into the space. Bella does great in it. It also is great to fit on console flip down in backseat. It seems to take up less space though than the regular carseats & on trips when we take my parents, I thought this would work out great. |
We just got the large one for our two yorkie puppies Samson (3 lbs) and Delilah(3.5 lbs). We tried it our Saturday on a short trip to my mother-in-laws. They both fit in the seat with room left over. They loved it. We are taking a six hour trip to my parents in two weeks so I think it will work out great. |
1 Attachment(s) My parents bought Fiona a great car seat, that I have her sitting in the back seat of my car....She loves it! |
Well, I think DH and I decided on the console car seat. Now I just have to get the tape measure out to see if the SUV size will fit in the Murano. I think they run a little large so I'll probably go for the smaller one. |

I too have a Murano, and measured the small will fit, it's if Zhoie can fit in the seat or not. |
Console seat We have one for Bently and he loves to situp in it and look around. When he was down lower and could not see out the windows he cried alot. |
Ugh, Bella's a chunk!! At 6lbs it looks like the SUV size is the option for her but it's too big for my Murano console. I wonder what hubby would say if I got a console car seat for the Yukon and a Lookout car seat for the Murano?? :) Surely a spoiled little girl can have 2 car seats...right?? |
