clay pawprint ornaments I wanted to know how many of us have the little clay paw impression ornaments and how they turned out. I just did one of Gatsby this morning and i was very happy with the results, after about 6 tries. ill post pics when we decide if we want to paint it or not. Did you do it as a puppy or as a adult? Did you have a air dry clay or one that you baked ? did you use clay or plaster How did you get you dog to let you put there paw in mushy clay?plaster? I thought this could be useful so we could gather info and find out what works best. mine was a clay that needed baked for about 30 min. i got Gatsby to hold still by giving him some chicken. I decided to wait until he was a adult because that seemed i bit more special to me after all the dog is my best friend and companion not the puppy that he only was for a few months |
Awww, now with the thought we should that too...Except here,we'd need 6,then if 6 tries each to get one right...Oh yeah it will be a wonderful Christmas.. |
This sounds like a fun idea. Did you buy a kit or did you put one together yourself? |
well i have a squirmy dog and im a perfectionist so it might take less tries with a calmer dog or a less anal person I bought a kit but i might as well have a tub of sculpty (which was what was in my kit) the "tools" wear useless Studio By Sculpey Clay 2.9 Oz. Bar -MANY COLORS*: clay*: crafts*: Shop | Joann.com this is the clay i used and it worked well when i just did it by hand |
I haven't done one yet but you can buy a kit at Micheals , seen them there today. |

I plan on making one as well! I saw those at michaels and I know Taycie totally wants to make one for Christmas..hehehehehe:) |
I work at a paint your own pottery studio. I don't know if any of you guys have one of those in your area but I bet they would sell you a small piece of clay to do the paw print and fire it for you. Then you could glaze it and have a ceramic ornament! |
