Help!!!!! Anyone with 2 yorkies please help!!!! I just brought home valentine and introduced her to keno (hes over a yr old) he is acting so strange running around, barking at her almost as if he wants her attention, he hasnt growled or tried biting her hes acting almost nervous and he keeps on licking her butt. Has anyone had any problems where there 2 yorkies didn't get along? I hope he wont act like this forever. :( |
congratulations on your new Valentine It is not unusual for him to act different when a new pup comes into his home. It may take a few days to adjust. I have 4 yorkies and I am fostering 2 chi's from a local rescue. At first they smell each other, following them around, but I am right there to watch closely. Let them work it out, making sure you let your little Keno that he is a good boy. Good luck on your new arrival. It will all work out and they will be best buddies in no time. |
Congrats. Just give him some time. He will settle down soon. I am sure that he's just excited and confused about his new sister. Hot Rod was the same with Maggie May. In time I am sure that they will be best buds. |
Just give it a little more time. I have 4 and they get along. |
It does take a little time for them to get used to each other, so don't worry it will happen. Be sure to keep them separated though when you are not there to watch them until you are absolutely sure no one will get hurt. I now have 5 doggies, and all get along fabulously, but there was some adjusting with each new addition I brought home. Congratulations, and have lots of fun. |
it will get better Omg when I brought izzie home sophie was horrible to her: barking growling biting..you get the picture. It took about 3 weeks for her to accept izzie. And now after 4 mobths they r the best of friends. : ) so they will eventually get along just fine. Make sure to give keno lots of extra love : ) |
Hi, do you mind me asking what the age gap is as I am picking up a wee girl yorkie in early dec and have a 7 month old male at the moment so I am also nervous but everyone I speak to says although it can take time they normally work it out between them. Robbo is so spoilt I am scared he will resent her even though he loves other dogs loads even when they are in his own house. x |
sorry i mean her age as I read he is just over a year! |

She is 12 weeks old, that's exactly how I feel about keno he is very spoiled all the attention is on him. We have been giving him extra love and treats. But now the problem is she won't stop crying when I put her in her crate I am up at 5 on a Saturday when I should be sleeping in lol she is keeping us up! I really hope shecan get used to her crate. |
I wonder if she is upset about her crate, or upset about being away from her mommy and litter mates. My experience is the first couple of nights with a new puppy are always the hardest. They'll both settle down, it just might take a few days. Catch yourself a nap today. |

I know it is easier said than done, but I would not worry. They will end up getting along fine. Just takes a little while for them to get use to each other. I was majorly worried when I got Zoey about 6 weeks ago. I don't have any other pets other than my 9 year old Yorkie who has been spoiled like no tomorrow and was use to all my attention. Although I take her around other dogs and stuff, I always joke that she has no idea what to do with other dogs. She never really learned how to play with them and thus really just turned her nose up at them and tolerated being around them for a short while. So, yeah, was very worried. When I first brought Zoey home, she flat out ignored her. And I mean literally would turn her face the other direction when she saw her. Then she got to the growling phase, even nipped at her a couple of times BUT amazingly she never was really not nipping hard. She knew she was just a puppy. Zoey would even go when she was chewing on her rawhide and chew at the other end and she would just growl, but still let her do it. From Zoey she is slowly starting to learn to play like a real dog now too. :D She does get a little tired of Zoey because she is so energetic, but she does play with her and has become protective of her. So trust me, if a 9 year old dog can get use to a puppy, yours will too. Give them both lots of treats as rewards at the same time and praise them both together. If your dog sees it is still getting attention too it will be more accepting. |
The crate is what I would be worried about too as Robbo sleeps in our bed or on the floor and has done for about 2 months since he was out of his crate...so I would feel like I was isolating her when I put her in there...haha I sound so sad lol... |
