Putting on the Brakes???? I am wondering if this is a small dog trait or a Yorkie trait. Darwin and Mable both do this - when they want to stop to visit with someone they just put their front feet on the ground and they both gain 100 pounds. Yep, it's cute and gets many laughs but I wouldn't mind if it stops soon. I'm trying to keep a shorter leash and do the gentle pull on the leash with a firm no, but it seems like it is a trait that is built into both of them. Any thoughts? |
Roxie does this and I swear she is cemented to the ground! |
Yup! Mine too. I really hate going for walks because of this. I have to stop also and just sit there till she realizes I'm not giving in. If she doesn't start walking - I end up picking her up. I'll put her down again a little later for her to just do it again. LOL! |
Oh my....mine too. I was hoping this was something he'd grow out of, apparently not...hummmm. |
Phoebe and Melody are walkers, but Shayna she put her brake sometimes, she does it more with daddy than with me, drives her daddy crazy:rolleyes:lol |
Rizzo only does this when I'm about to make him go somewhere he'd rather not, like anywhere within about 20 feet of my car. He hates car rides, though he has been getting better, he still puts the brakes on as if the whole 5lbs of him would keep me from picking him up and putting him in there anyway, lol. |
Jean used to do this when she was a puppy. I was taking both my babies for a walk and my older one would like to run in front of me and little Jean would lay down. I worked this problem with a trainer. We were taking her out on the grass and drag her (sliding on the grass) until she realized that it was more fun to walk on her own than to sit and get dragged around. Maria |
Haha! Levi is generally a pretty good little walker, but he'll occasionally put on his brakes too. I was leaving my aunt's house once, and Levi was on his leash following me until he realized we were heading for the car to go home. Those brakes sure went on quick! |
it's funny how smart these little guys can be! we have a park close by our house, and Dexter will happily walk there, but if we turn the other way down the street, away from the park, the brakes go on! |
hahahaha my Fletcher rolls to his side and lays down and gains 100lbs! LOL I think it's a Yorkie trait for sure!~ |
Hazel does this ALL THE TIME ! ! ! shes so stubborn and spoiled! but its all my fault tee hee =] |
Yep and I swear one of these days my arm is going to pulled straight out of the socket! |
