Trimming Nails I may be on the wrong site but couldn't find a grooming area. I am a little anxious about trying to clip Macy's nails. I have seen both the groomer and vet cut the quick. There is a new nail trimmer out that is supposed to sense where the quick is and tells you when it is OK to cut the nail. Works like a stud finder. Has anyone tried this product? :animal36 |
Trimming Nails Hi and welcome to YorkieTalk (YT). Scroll down to the grooming forum and look thru the posts on that forum. Or, you log on and do a search for posts on the topic of interest. In your case it would be trimming nails. Good luck with the nail trimming. My Zeke does not like his nail trimmed and trying to contain a 12 lb yorkie is a handful. |
Thanks I was looking for the grooming forum at 5:00 A this morning. Must have missed it. |
All I can say is that I was able to trim Tatum's nails until she was about 2 years old. Nothing traumatic at all happened.... she just decided she wasn't going to let me do it anymore. I do everything else (trim ears, private area, in between paw pads) and she sits and lays perfectly still for it all - even the hairdryer. But nails... nope! And I just decided it's not worth worrying about breaking her little legs while trying to keep her from wiggling. I have to take her to the vet for them to do it (sometimes it's the vet if he's not busy, most times it's the tech). She's a perfect angel for them when they do it. Go figure. |
