2nd yorkie????? Heya, I have a 7 month old yorkie and the breeder I got him from is having more puppies due mid oct, and I just love him so much and am desperate for a wee girl now but have a few concerns. (getting them both neutered/spayed obviously) Is it ok for the mum to be having more pups in oct after her first ever litter in feb? I feel this is a little close but have no idea as I am not a breeder. Both him and his mum have lovely natures and are gorgeous! Secondly, how is it introducing a new pup to a slightly older pup? Robbo is no longer crated and I was wondering how it is when you crate the new pup? do they cry together or does the new puppy feel that it is being isolated at night etc? I think that is it but no doubt will have many more!!!! Thanks so much, Ree |
I don't breed- but I do know that breeding twice in a year is too much for the dam. She needs time to recover physically between litters. We brought a second yorkie in to the house when Rhett was just shy of 6 months. It took him all of a day to decide that it was his job to watch over her :) . He would get down from the bed in the middle of the night and lay down by her crate if she cried - of course, that only lasted a few weeks before he decided that he wanted to go back to sleeping all night. I didn't find her crying to last any longer than Rhett did, so I don't believe she feels isolated at night. Oh- Welcome to YT! |
Thank you so so much. I am so excited but also a little nervous at going NFL to potty training and all again lol. I feel it is too soon but I am kind of thinking if I don't take her then someone else will as the girl is already pregnant and I jus kno I could give her a good home. As u can see I'm new to this forum. It's great tho I'm so happy I found it. Thanks for ur welcome. |
If the bitch done well the first time and bounced back fast it is not unusal for a breeder to breed twice then skip the next. It all depends on the girls heath, size of litter..etc.. |
Well, your baby is going to be almost a yr. old, when you get the 2nd (if you do decide to do that)...Yes, you'll have to start over, w/potty training, but maybe your 1st one will help out, a little...I don't know anything about breeding, but it doesn't sound right to breed that close together??? I got Buzz (my 2nd) when he was 4 months old, and Apple (my first) was 12 months old (she had been spayed about a month) It worked out so nice for us... |
