A lot of it is genetic, but proper diet and the right products can make a big difference. I just used Lambert Kay on my 3 and they turned out nice. I found I have to try different products and find what works best for mine. |
I learned that lesson too. My fletcher does not matt, but my Dex, whoa!! Poor baby has the WORST cotton coat! I keep him in a short puppy cut because I can't brush him everyday and he won't tolerate it anyways, it's a struggle and physically and emotionally draining for both of us. I'm sure your baby will look beautiful! Think about keeping a short puppy cut on him, it's much easier for you and then he'll never need regular brushing, just once every 3 months grooming! |

I use a conditioner on Beamer's coat every time I brush him (you should never brush their coats dry, always spray a conditioner first). When he is bathed I have his groomer use the Biogroom conditioner on him. I take care of his coat every day, keeping it free of tangles and once a week I have him bathed.:) |
I must be a terrible mom- I brush Jackson once a week or so. I keep him short tho so I really only have to brush his face :) I can imagine with the longer hair, it'd be much more of a chore, but my short kept boy is easy as pie! |

Well I guess its happened to all of us with the cotton coats. Edward has a cotton coat as well and I liked it long so his hair had never been cut but i slacked on the brushing a little in the summer and it matted and tangled really bad, so I took him to the groomer an luckily he did not have to get shaved but it was cut really short. Eventhough after cutting it I feel like I will be keeping it on the shorter side from now on. But I still brush him every 2 days or so. |
