How do they do it? Every morning at exactly 5am Wyatt starts licking my face. How in the world do they know what time it is? My alarm is set to go off at 5:15am but they never let the alarm wake them up. Just once I want to be able to sleep til my alarm goes off! It is just uncanny how they can tell that it is 5am. Too bad they don't know that there are 2 days we can sleep a little later! Can your dogs tell time? |
Yes. Yes, he can. Fynnlie wakes me up at 5.15 every morning. I don't have to get up until 5.45. UGH. On the weekends, I'll take him out and then put him in the kitchen and go back to bed for a while. :) Naps! |
lol....IDK how they do it, but just think, you never need to rely on an alarm clock now. And, what better way to wake up than with a kiss from someone you love:) |
Bridget does the same thing - she wakes up my fiance' just before the alarm goes off - first then they go into the kitchen so I can sleep 1/2 hour longer - then he tells her...."go wake up momma" and she runs in and first starts the licking - if I pull the covers over my head she starts the digging ON MY HEAD, and if I'm able to protect myself from that - she grabs the sheet and pulls it until it's completely on the floor. There is NO sleeping in with this little four-legged alarm clock around! |
Yes, they know what time it is. When Bruce was working, around the time he normally came home, Lil Bit would prick up her ears and watch out the window for him. She knew what time he usually came home.:) |
I don't know how they know, but let me tell you they do, exact time to feed them:rolleyes: |
Oh, your fault, you got morning dogs! They KNOW you really, deep down, want to get up early. Most people don't know this, but there are just two kinds of dogs, morning dogs and non-morning dogs. I have both. Two of seven will sleep till noon, if I let them. The rest all get up just before day break. |
:snore: Agree Agree...Pixie has me up almost every morning about 15 mins before the alarm goes off. But, then she seems to know what time we are going to be home an is right at the back door when we come in. No alarm clocks needed in this house. |
mine does the same thing. she get me up at 6:30 or 6:45 everyday. |
Rizzo definitely can tell time, whenever I come home early I don't hear a peep from my house until I start unlocking the door, however whenever I pull up to the house on a normal day, round 430-ish I hear him barking his little head off. And in the mornings, he starts to whimper just before the alarm, and his whimper turns into a little yip after the alarm (if I hit the snooze) and he won't stop until I pick him up and take him out. Naturally on the weekends he still wishes to wake me up early...dang it for getting an early bird :D lol |
;) Dudley does the same to my hubby... |

Snoopy knows when it's 10:00pm. That's usually when DH goes to bed (and takes Snoopy with him). If DH wants to stay up later, Snoopy will stand in front of him and stare till his daddy gets the message!;) |
Mine do this too! Especially now because my schedule has changed... My alarm goes off at 6 am and they are licking my face at 5:50. |
Lucky me Maybe...lol Well Edward wakes around 9 am and will yip until i bring him out to potty then he will have breakfast and a drink of water find his favorite toy and join me once again in bed for another at least 3 hours...but my work schedule is later so we get to bed pretty late. but he is the best 9 am potty break alarm ever b/c he will softly nudge my face and give me lil tiny licks and when im not responding fast enough he will get off the bed and thats when he resorts to the yipping....lol |
Levi is a little alarm clock too - wakes me up around 7:00 AM to go out, potty, have a little breakfast, wander around...some mornings he will go back to bed with me, but sometimes he just stands by my bed when I try to go back to sleep and stares at me. And then I have to get up and play! :) |
Gatsby did this last year we got up every morning at 8:00 we did this all summer as well but this year we have two school age kids who have to be in class at 7:25 and 7:45 so we have to get up at around 6:30 Gatsby is not having any of this he stays in bed until i say "time to go to school" then he races out of the bedroom jumps in his car seat (or as we call it his box) and waits for me to pick him up and take him to the car he goes with me to drop off the kids we get home he goes potty i get ready for work while he sleeps some more then he goes to daycare and from what i have been told sleeps all day long. |

You know....I read these posts and am just overwhelmed with how blessed we all are! These little furbabies brighten our lives so very much! I'm not a morning person but I'll happily wake up at 5:00 am just to cuddle with Milli during her 'cuddly time'. It's the best part of my day! |

Bubba know when it's time to get up (5:45AM for work-even when I'm not working grrrrrrr) and 10:30PM when it's time to go to bed. He will annoy you until you give up. |
Yes, they can definitely tell time (wake-up time and walk time). Unfortunately, they don't know how to account for weekends :D The fall time change is okay but they always wake you up early during the spring daylight savings. |
The dog trainer told us that dogs can tell time. If they expect you home at a certain time and you don't get there, that is usually when the dog starts tearing things up, etc. Also, if they expect you at a certain time to let them out to potty and you don't get there...we all know what happens then. |
I am blessed to have two olympic gold medal nappers always ready to sleep in or cuddle |
Oh Yes, My dogs & cats can tell time. They can also read my mind and spell. They are very talented. |
