Aggression This is the first time I have been at this site but I have a question. I am hoping for some help. I have a female Yorkie that is 2 yrs. old and a Maltese female that is also 2. The Yorkie attacked my Maltese for no reason. She bit her and would not let go. My Maltese had to have minor surgery on her leg and stitches for the bite wound. It was very deep. I cannot figure out what or why that would have happened. Is this common in Yorkies? Please help! Jackief :( |
Have your girls been spayed? Have they ever acted aggressive towards each other before? Perhaps it may be some kind of dominance issue... Welcome to YorkieTalk, we also have a sister site that deals with Maltese too (www.maltesetalk.com). I hope you figure out what's going on with your girls! |
Have they always been together? |
Wwlcome to YT, BTW! Hope you can figure out what's wrong! |
Hello and welcome. I'm not familiar with Maltese but have two yorkies, female and spayed. The only time they get real aggresive is when they are tired, particularly the smaller one. So, I make sure she's monitored and in bed on time. She's never done anything that required surgery though. |
aggression I have a 5 month old Yorkie that attacks for no apparent reason. I am still trying to figure out what sets him off. If I find out any helpful info, I will pass it on to you. Good luck |
Welcome. My first question would be how long you have had both doggies and have they been raised together since they were puppies? Other than that I would think that aggressiveness could be the result of the lack of attention, training, and socialization. Both my previous yorkie and my present yorkie would be at the totally opposite end of the scale. Very friendly and very mellow. Kacee is a very mellow girl. :) |
