Advice needed... second yorkie So, I've had my little guy for 2 years. He's 4. I adopted him from a local no kill shelter. I love him to pieces but of course he's spoiled. I have been thinking of getting him a sister for a while now but I am not sure he would share. Today I saw that the same shelter has 2 little girls. 3 & 4 from TN. I called and they said that they got them yesterday. I have an appointment to see them on Saturday so that I can bring my baby with me. I plan to bring his blanket and bed with me. I want to see how he reacts to another dog with his stuff. I hope this will let me know if he would be OK with a sister. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for this meeting? |
I don't have any suggestions but I DO hope that things go well! It would be awesome if you could give those little girls homes!! GOOD LUCK! |
he'll be fine if it's a girl. i have 6 yorkies and they love having friends |
i think it would be fine. I hope u can give one of them girls a forever home xxxx |
I am hoping to get one. I was told that someone else is interested in one of them. I know that no matter what they will both be in loving homes in no time. |
The reason I am so nervous is that even when I pick up his bed to vacuum he's right there jumping up & down as if to say "what are you doing with my bed... put it back...mine...mine...mine. Not in an aggressive way at all. More of a "don't move my stuff" kinda way. I can get right in his food bowl while he's eating and he could care less. I guess I'll find out Saturday one way or the other. |
Mine all do that with their bed/kennels too. Looks like their asking, "What are you doing with that? It's mine!" Hope everything goes okay. Can't wait to see pictures! |

I was thinking the same thing. The friend I had plan to ask isn't going to available. I'm sure that someone at the shelter will help me with the intro. I explained my concern to them when I called and set up the appointment. |
Well, We went to see the 2 southern bells and I am so undecided. I was hoping they woluld be the same size as mine or a little smaller. They were both larger. They were very thin and need dental. The neat thing is that they are both the blonde and silver color. I could just picture that beatiful hair down to the floor. One was very interested in my little guy. Not agressively just wanted to really get close and do the sniffing thing. My Perkins didn't care for that after a couple of minutes. The other little girl was more interested in running around in the play yard than anything. I had to call her a few times for her to even come to me. The big test of the bed and blanket was a shocker to all of us. My son had come with me and when he went to get them out of my car the girl just followed him. When he put Perk's bed down the little girl came over to check it out and actually got in it. My Mr Perkins was a complete gentleman. He did not react at all. When we were petting the girls he just waited his turn. I was so proud of him. But back to the girls.... it's such a big decision and afterall is said and done Neither of them stole my heart the way my guy did. So for now I'm still thinking about it. I have to call them tomorrow with my decision. There are now pictures of them on pet finders. They are Maize & Mabel. |
