No not necessarily. If a breed is recognized by a foreign registry that AKC recognizes...they can obtain admission into the akc's FSS program.

The American biewer vs German biewer "discusssion" is just talk. The dogs were imported from Germany...the vast majority of which are still in breeding programs...

I wasn't implying that they didn't focus on health. I'm actually getting a Biewer soon, so I'm definitely not against Biewers, nor do I think that they are unhealthy. Mr. Biewer achieved the look of the Biewer by inbreeding, so some argue that a Biewer sire and dam will produce a less healthy pup than if it was paired with a Parti. Like I said above, there are pros and cons that are argued with each. The con that is frequently argued in breeding a Biewer to a Parti is that will dilute the gene pool. With proper health screens, MHO is that there would not be a major risk for health issues with breeding a Biewer to a Biewer. Never say never, but these dogs appeared in 1984. I'm certain that a responsible breeder would pair the two Biewers wisely with complementary traits to prevent any health issues.

wow i'm learning so much i didn't know. i didn't realize they were different from the parti or tri colored yorkies. they sure are beautiful. that white and "blue" as you called it sure do set them off. i'm sure someday they will be shown in the AKC ring. i'm not a huge mixed breed fan, nor am i a huge fan of changing the standard of one dog breed to create another style, but in my opinion, the biewer is one of those instances in which cross breeding and trying something new went very well...they are stunning!

There is many websites that will offer you good information and introduce you to the many breeders who show as well as breed their biewers.

I haven't read anyone in the "Biewer is not a yorkie" camp explain what makes a Biewer different from the parti yorkie besides their registration, their name, or the country they were developed in. When they were being imported left and right from Germany 3 or 4 years ago they were still considered yorkies. Right? :confused:
Just when did they "evolve" from being tri yorkies?

Also...why would the Biewer be given AKC breed registration status when there is already a tri yorkie that is AKC registered?

me too.....travel far and probably sell a kidney for the money!
I got my Biewer from a breeder in PA. Many Biewer breeders on YT too.

Color differences: Biewers have all white legs, chest, belly, and white full tail; blue, gold, white on head (symetrically is best); black and white only on body: no gold/tan allowed. Standard adult weight: 7 lbs (last time I looked)

Makes mine a teapot! That's okay... more to love! And I didn't think I would ever say this: but I think she is smarter than my Yorkies.

Better look at that standard again because I sure see alot with black tails with a white tip and several with white or half white heads.

My question is off subject...I am curious as to why you use Shooters photo as your avatar..? Avatar pic's give the impression the Yorkies pictured are the members own dog/dogs..not really fair to the true owner, right?

Sorry - maybe you weren't talking to me - I'm confused - Nothing out of the ordinary. I just got defensive - But I use my own Bridget as my avitar (I'm one proud mommy). I'm not even owned by a Biewer.......YET! ;)

The standard says "White tip at the end of the tail".. most of the time, the Piebald or the Irish spotting gene displays with a "spot" at the base of the tail... If everyone would just look up "spotting gene" on the internet.. that answers many questions. Also I believe the standard states "up to seven lbs" .. of course in Germany they don't use lbs so it's not exact.

Dee is correct. This is an excellent site for information. When I was looking for my first Biewer this was one of the many sites I visited. I was particularly impressed with the "BREED ORDER" section of this website.

When Beamer's groomer came on Tuesday, she asked if I had ever heard of Biewer's. Thanks to YT I was able to tell her I had heard of them.
She said someone she knows in the area has a litter of puppies and is asking an outrageous price. I asked her what is outrageous. She said she thinks the lady said $1600
Doesn't sound an outrageous price to me. Sure wish I could afford a Biewer.

lolol yeah I sure wish I could too!! My hubby paid around 1,500$ for our Bull terrier and I nearly fell over. He saved for a few months for her though.

my husband almost fell over when I asked him if it was OK to spend over $1000 plus shipping for a Yorkie, when I was buying Beamer.
Now, he introduces Beamer to our friends as "our first 4 figure dog"

Prices are much more reasonable for a Biewer puppy then that. You can get a nice pet male puppy for less the $1,500. And if your not too picky on size, sometimes...much less.

as im sure other Biewer breeders can relate.............just a year ago.....2500 was considered a good deal for a good quality biewer..........they going prices then were between 2800-4000.............now if a breeder gets 2500 it is a great thing and that would be if it was evaluated to be of show quality.........just saying folks........yes 2500 is a great deal of money.........but it is still lower than just a year ago.

Or shall I admit that on more than one occasion, the twins have made identical "consolation prizes" so I really don't need one, and i have photographed them to preserve the momentous occasions..... hahahaha admitting it in public :cool:
