I thought I saw there was a room for owners of Morkies? Can someone help me find it, if so?

I don't think there is a specific section for Morkies.
But you are more than welcome to post in any topic regarding your little Morkie.

My Morkie will be 1 year in November. I've attached a picture of her when she was a "baby" and one more current picture. Tigger (Yorkie) picture of Abbey's dad and Snowy (Maltese) picture of Abbey's mom. She is between 6 - 7 lbs now, but looks bigger because of all the fluff. You can see her true size at bath time. She loves to play, thrives on attention, and is by far, the most affectionate dog I have ever seen. I may be a little bias, but she is a doll. Her mom and dad are pretty special too! :heart to

How cute! I was wondering who you guys used for a breeder because I'm getting a morkie it's just I can't find a breeder!!!

Welcome to YorkieTalk :D

I recommend you search for either a yorkie or maltese breeder... anyone who breeds maltese/yorkies are not reputable and are just in it for the money.

Have you tried rescues & shelters? You can find all kinds of mixed breeds there!
We have a Yorkie Poo that we love to do death, but we did not purchase her from a breeder.
You will find it hard for anyone on YT to recommend a breeder who mixes breeds. This pretty much suggests it's only about the money and not the right reasons for breeding! No one wants to suggest an unethical breeder to you!

Is there a reason you don't want a pure bred?

Thanks guys for the ideas and there isn't really a reason why we don't want a purebred dog it's just that we saw someone had a morkie somewhere and we fell in love at first sight!

Your really should consider shelters. With a mix breed, it's impossible to predict what the puppy will look like & what the temperment will be. So, if you have a look & personality in mind, adopting an adult is the best way to go! I've seen many morkies & they all look so different! Some look mostly yorkie, others look mostly maltese...so you never know what you're gonna get. I suggest checking into shelters for a morkie. As previously said, reputable breeders will not mix breeds.

Good luck finding your new baby! :)

Just wondering if anyone on here has researched the origins of Yorkies? They did not just appear one day but were the result of crossing several breeds to get the desired traits. Paisley Terrier for their coats, Scotch Terrier and some think Maltese.

Of course I have, I'm always curious how the breeds we know today came about :D However, when they were mixing breeds to create a certain type of breed, i.e. the yorkie, they would take some of the best specimens from each breed in which they researched the background of, and compared temperaments, coat types, size, and health. They were professional breeders that came together to try to create the perfect working breed for the job specified (catching rats)
The yorkie didn't come about by just throwing two random purebreds together and saying, "well thats a cute puppy, lets market it!" i.e. the Morkie or Yorktese or whichever way you prefer to name it.

Yes, you are right. Like most every other breed, Yorkies originated by crossing other existing breeds. The difference is though, they were being bred for a specific purpose. There was a collective effort by many many breeders to establish them as a breed, they weren't just thrown together willy nilly to feed a current trend. Strict breeding records were kept, the results examined and compared accross the board. Medical testing was performed to distinguish and help eliminate breed specific genetic issues. A standard was set for the dogs. That is not being done with these 'designer breeds' that are popping up everywhere--the two are not comparable.

(It's funny how many times this argument is brought up as a means to justify breeding mutts.)
