About Vaccinations and colour Could someone please give me some advice. I just took my wee man to the vets for his first vaccine. It was so painful that he cried out. I asked the vet if this was normal and according to him injections can be painful. We have a Japanese Spitz and he didn't cry once for any injections. He then informed me that my baby wasn't a full bred yorkie as he is a bit white underneath and he weighs 1.7lb therefore he is too big to be a yorkie. I know he is a rescue pup but the first vet said he definitely was a yorkie and showed all the signs of being a full bred yorkie When I see photos of the yorkies on this website he just looks like them. Brown and tan and cute as a button, but I do have concerns. No matter what he still is my wee baby and I will always love him and wouldn't part with him for all the money in the world. I just would like to know if vaccines should hurt and if any of your yorkies have a small white bit underneath. Thanks |
Because he's 1.7lbs he's too big to be a Yorkie? Now, that's something I've never heard before. Fynnlie is 12 weeks and weighs 2lbs. About the white, I don't know. Fynnlie is black and tan... *shrugs* Vaccines can hurt, it just depends on the dog and the vet that gives the injection... It just depends. |
Do you have a picture? How old is you puppy? |

I'm trying to get a photo on beside my name but not very good at computers. He is 8 weeks old and a wee cutie. If you can give me some ideas on how to get photo on that would be great. Have went onto User CP and it starts to download but kind of stops in the middle. Also is there any advice out there on how to get your pup used to walking on the lead. Thanks to everyone who answered. It's great to know that there is people out there who wants to help a stranger. |
Wow- if you have a vet saying that 1.7 lbs makes him too big to be a yorkie, I think it's time to look for a new vet. He obviously can't tell the difference between a yorkie and a hamster. No doubt he'd think my Rhett (10 lbs) was a horse, LOL. :p Shots can definitely hurt. Like people, every dog has their own level of pain tolerance. And yes, pure bred yorkies can have white on their chests and paws as puppies. |

also had never seen white on a yorkie my yorkie also has a white patch on his chest...but i've been told by the awesome people here that it means he's gonna have an abundance of hair. |

As far as walking your pup, it's best to wait 2 weeks after the last set of shots before heading out on your first outdoor walk. Always use a harness for walking & NEVER use a collar. You can damage your baby's trachea if you use a collar. Collars should be for ID purposes only! |
