Oh, how cute... is she a teacup? No. She's a puppy. I am getting tired of every single person asking me this and then me trying to go into the whole speech of "teacup" being a misnomer and a marketing ploy and tiny ones are more likely to have health problems, blah, blah, blah. I'm just venting. Anyone else have everyone asking you that? I'm annoyed! The main reason is that I live in a small town and there are a few people who have gotten snowed by a breeder around here who is charging $2500+ for teeny tiny teacup yorkies. So I guess they think those little things are better than my Stormy. :( |
Alot of people ask me if Lulu is a "miniature". I just simply say no she's just a yorkie. Fortunately, many people just think Lulu is younger than she is so they don't realize how small she really is....this keeps a lot of the "teacup or miniature" comments at bay. |
I know how you feel! I get that question ALL the time. It really makes me laugh when I have my 6lb yorkie Zoe out and they ask. But I do see ALOT of poorly bred oversized yorkies so I can kindof understand why people have that idea. I try to nicely educate them. Some are open, others you can practically see their eyes glaze over. Of course, the other question I get that really makes me uncomfortable is when they ask how much I paid.... |
pick her up, look her over well, then answer "I think she's a dog, I'm not seeing a handle anywhere" and shrug your shoulders :) |

love it!!! :d |
1 Attachment(s) Yep, I get the question all the time too. Yep, I have to go thru the speech about the teacup thing. Yesterday, I even got a question on what type of dogs I had as I was walking Tia and Ally!!!! I've just given up and just give short brief answers anymore. |
My Shorkie Alice, shocked us all. She went from a 3 pound 8 week old pup to a 7 month old that comes in about 14 pounds. She's huge! And a doll. Callie |
LOL I get asked all the time if Rosie is a tea cup...I've gotten tired after only a few months of educating the ignorant but I still go through the speech about the Tea Cup term. |
I collect teacups - but they are all on a shelf in the dining room, and none of them bark:D:D |
oh man you just don't even know how hard it is for me to take Ella out. I've given up on explaining what she is and her size. Ella is a biewer but not only that she's chocolate. So I get the "is she mixed?" "maltese" "westie" "yorkie-poo" OH MY!!!! I love bringing her to the sorority house. No questions just awhs and ohhs. |

I love these responses. Will definitely use them. Thanks for making me laugh everyone. |
lol, i just say yeah, cuz i don't even feel like explaining . . . its a quick way for them to shut up. |
lol. this is funny because im in another thread talking about people asking "how much...?" i dont have a yorkie yet & im still learning more about this breed everyday!but coming from the otherside...i was the person that would ask how much....or is that a tea cup. that doesnt mean that i was being "ignorant". theres not alot of good wholesome reputable breeders out here....when you look up yorkie puppies on google...all you see is "teacup this & micro that!" from the 1st page to the last! so thats all i knew at the time....because that was all i was surrounded by. but now that ive found yorkie talk...ive learned SOOOOO much more! (thats y i love this site!:D) so dont think of them as being ignorant or stupid.....they just dont know any better. they dont know all the FACTS yet.;) p.s. i actually LOVE all the funny responses!!! |
