brendarash | 08-18-2010 08:43 PM | Poor Julie was attacked again. I am so upset about this situation. I have 6 dogs total. 4 are yorkies and all are the sweetest little girls and 1 boy. Two of the yorkies are rescues. Rosie is a 8 yr. old. She came from a puppy mill. She was abused very bad and was taken into the vet to be put down due to the fact that she would not let the male get near her. After them trying for 6 yrs. and her being severely kicked, beat, ect.She finally had a puppy. When the puppy was 5 weeks this person took her to the vet and said put her to sleep. Well, that vet took her had them sign a release and then called a rescue near me. I happen to go in to see if the rescue had any yorkies and low and behold,I adopted Rosie. Rosie had alot of problems (of course the poor baby did ) She got along real good with the other dogs, with out any problems. Then about a year later or so I was asked by a friend to watch her mothers little almost 2 yr. old yorkie. Well she had surgery. They all got along very good with no problems. This little girls name was Diamond. After a month here with my group, and many visits from Diamond's Mom, she said she does not even act the same and seems so happy here. The next day she calls and asks me do I want to keep her? Of course, I said sure. Diamond then became Julie. I said from the beginning something was not right with Julie, Could not jump, run,and kept biting at her back end. It only took me about a hour watching her. I called my friend and asked if it was okay to have her checked by a vet. They said yes because she has always acted funny but the vet could not find anything wrong. Except for L.P in both knees. I took her to the vet with the complaints of not being able to jump, run, and just stood in place with her head facing the floor, biting occasional at her back end. That vet confirmed LP in both knees,I asked about anal glands, spine ect. She said no this is just her personality.I was not happy with that so the next day I took her to a different vet I have never even seen but wanted another opinion, Well, she said LP and impacted anal glands. From that point on she never bothered her back end. But still is not like most 2 yr old dogs, I have ever seen. She now jumps on the furniture runs and barks with the rest of the group. Well the problem is back about 3 months ago, while sitting in the living room and loud knock came at the door,Rosie started barking and ran over and jumped on Julie biting her. I ran over grabbed Rosie and put her in the crate.I could not believe my eyes. She acted like a wild animal. I said what the heck was that? About two weeks later? I had to leave the house and I put Rosie in the crate before leaving. After returning I opened the door to find Poor Julie sitting in a puddle of blood. Oh my goodness I about died, I grabbed her, ran to the car and sped to the vet, ran inside and told them what happened. They took her in the back and did a hour's worth of surgery to stitch and staple her wounds.I was in shock, poor Julie.I could not even imagine how did Rosie get out, No one was even home just the dogs. Mean while. what do I do with Rosie? I can not keep her in the house, Will she do this to my tiny Sadie what is going on? While she was being stitched up I ran home got Rosie and took her to the rescue where I got her. I can not have this happen ever again. They said go take care of Julie we will try to find a home for Rosie if that is what I wanted. I did not know what I wanted, except I did not want Rosie biting any of my babies. While taking care of Julie 24/7 turning, cleaning and taking her to the vet 3 times a day for cleanings and pain shots,I called so many animal behaverest, (spelling) and animal specialist, They all said, 4 different ones. Why is Rosie out of the house? I was not expecting that. That is Rosie's house. They are animals, This can happen, or something may be wrong with Julie.Or she does not fit in the pack. But this can be delt with, seperate them and put Rosie on meds(prozac). We figured out when Rosie heres a loud noise or I walk into the house after being away. She gets so excited does not know how to deal with it. Then before you know it,she jumps on Julie. But not if I am here. So we keep them apart from each other. Rosie has calmed down A lot with her meds but she still gets freaked out with loud noises and my adult Son. If he is here. it has been a few months, everything was going good, Then today my son comes in. lets the dogs out to potty ( I was at the Dr with my husband) He calls me very upset ,he said Rosie was trying to kill Julie,She was biting her on her neck .she was just laying on her back doing nothing.I said what was she doing out of the room ? He had just let them out ran upstairs for a minute, heard a funny noise ran down stairs and found them.He said Julie is not bleeding that he could see. I got here as soon as possible. I checked Julie over and she had a bite wound on her neck and ear. I cleaned her with the same cleaner (antibiotic) From the vets office. She is scared ,and just laying on the bed at this time,I called the vet she said to stop in tomorrow in the morning. To get a shot of antibiotic. I can not handle this happening to Julie any more. She is so attached to me and me to her,she has been in 4 homes and she is only 2yrs old. I can not put her through this any more. Julie does bark and pace the whole time I am gone. Her Vet put her on the same meds as Rosie . She has separation anxiety. I do not know if she was barking and pacing and that is what set Rosie off or what. I love this little girl and I do not know if it is better to find a new home for her or what. I have a contract with the rescue . I can not find a home for Rosie. She was there for a month but could not find any one interested in her because she bites children and now dogs. Has any one ever had this problem? I want so bad for every thing to be okay and not have Julie to ever have this happen again. I have been crating Julie or Rosie when I leave that was working fine. If I am home she does not even get near Julie. I wanted some one 's suggestions please. I am so sorry it is so long. |
