Sure it is a lot of money, but not as much money as you may wind up putting into your dog down the road. Let's just say that Carlo's medical bills so far total enough for me to have paid cash for a new Harley VROD, and we are no where done. Maxine has had 2 bouts of Pancreatitis, Dentals, etc. Special food, it adds up. There are great dogs out there that can be had for free....Price of the dog from a reputable breeder should be the last of your concern. | I don't really get your point, but if you want to talk vet bills, I can make your toes curl.
I've had an IG who was treated with chemo, for t-type lymphoma (most agressive form) for two years, so I know what the cost of treating cancer in a dog is like.
I've got a dog now with severe mitral valve prolapse. Her rechecks are more than $400 a pop, and an episode where she had to stay in the oxygen cage overnight due to fluid build up in her lungs was another hefty cost. Then there was the mast cell tumor she had removed and the dental she had. I have another 15 yr old with IBD, which required an endoscopy to diagnose. I've paid for six ultrasounds, seven chest xrays and I don't know how much lab work for dogs this year alone. Oh and I have a cushings dog that was diagnosed this year.
Paying for astronomical vet bills in geriatric dogs I love is different than purchasing a dog for an astronomical amount. |
