Oh gosh...I feel so bad for you and your babies. I noticed at the vet the other day, that they had something called Skunk Off or Skunk Out...something like that. I hope you can find something to get that smell off your babies and out of your house. What a terrible thing to happen. Sorry your vacation has been so rough. Good luck! |
Ahhhh! I'm SO sorry. I remember my grandma's Golden getting skunked in Arizona a few years ago... when she sent our Christmas presents thru the mail, we could smell the skunk on our presents all the way in Maryland, LOL. But her dog got tons of baths in, I think, cranberry juice, or maybe tomato juice. |
A few years ago a friend's Old English Sheepdog got skunked. Apparently he had some type of reaction to the spray, so she had to take him to the vet. Her car was being repaired, so she had a rental. Needless to say, the rental company ended up trying to sue her for numerous deodorizings and car cleanings, plus to cost of not being able to rent the car again. When it rains, it pours. What a nightmare this must have been for you.!!!! |
Oh my! I feel your pain! My girls have been skunked soooooooo many times!! It is crazy!! I have tried everything...nothing worked. I ended up shaving all their hair off on their head and just let it grow back. That smell gets into every molecule of the hair folicle. Every times it gets wet, the smell comes right back. It takes about 6 months for their hair to grow back. I tried every remedy that everyone recommended and bought so much stuff at the stores that guaranteed that it would get the smell out but nothing worked for me. Because it always hits their faces, it makes it really hard to get it covered. My Angel has been tomato pasted, tomato juiced, messingil douched and had the mixtures you mentioned on her and she still reeks when it happens. Bathing every day is a pain so i just shave it off now. She looks horrible for a few months but the smell makes me sick! Now we have replaced all the fencing so that nothing can crawl under it and TG no more skunks in our yard!! We even had to throw out the towels that we used as we couldn't get that smell out of them either. I HATE SKUNKS!!! Good luck sweetie!! |
Aw, so sorry to hear all you've been through this week.:( Best of luck with de-skunking.Here's to a better week, starting NOW! |

You know, this is pretty funny. First I can see you out in your back yard yelling at the dogs, and if it were 10pm, I'm guessing in your PJs (I would be in mine). Then, the dogs get in the house and start rubbing their heads and I can see you going nuts again. :) Sorry it happened to you, but it sounds like you still have your sense of humor :D. |
How aweful!!! Oh my I would be so upset too lol My father in laws dog was skunked a couple years back and I remember he kept giving her baths and she stunk for a while! I'm not having the greatest week either. I broke my foot last weekend and had a 4 hr stay at the ER! |
OH NO. hope u get the smell out soon xx |
Those "staycations" can sure be more draining than going on vacation! Nature's Miracle makes a "de-skunk" product. I use their cleaner for bathroom accidents in my house and it works really well. If mine ever get sprayed, it'll probably be the product I go for. And you just brought to my attention...it's probably something I should keep on hand because these things ALWAYS happen at the most inconvenient time. Hope you BF is feeling better! |
Oh wow you have had a tough week. Your Friday the 13th came early. :). I hope things start turning around for you. Sending hugs and wishing you luck.:ittykiss::ghug: |
Oh, I am so very sorry that happened to your pups. Hope you can get the smell out quickly and your dogs' eyes are okay. Poor babies and poor you. Hope you will let us know what works. |
Oh no, I feel for you! I hope the smell goes away quickly, that must be awful! |

I can't imagine. Really, that is just 'Marley and Me' funny! :grin2: |
Oh my gosh, these boys will give me a heart attack someday I swear!!! :) They are fine, still a little stinky around the mouth but overall it does not stink up a room or anything, just don't let them give you kisses to the nose! LOL The peroxide, baking soda and dishsoap worked well and we got it so quick that the skunk oil didn't sink into their fur. My house smells ok upstairs but not that great downstairs. Anyone ever try the odor absorber wall flowers from Bath & Body works? If not, they work GREAT! I can't smell skunk at all in my house but I can't smell the wallflower scent either, it must be working hard core to eliminate the skunk odor! Anyways, its a good investment. Friday the 13th went decent for me thank goodness, so it must have come early! |
