Hs anyone ever tried this? Just wondering if any of you that feed your furbabies Natures V. "raw" ever tired cooking it? thanks :) |
I have defrosted it in the microwave when I forgot to take it out the night before and I did it too long and it cooked. I just broke it up like ground beef and gave it to them, they ate it anyway!! |
Ok thanks... |

Me too - but I don't do this much, cause cooking it destroys all the "good-for-you" ingredients |
You might as well feed canned food, if you're going to cook raw...That's the whole idea of feeding raw, so as not to cook out the natural enzymes in the food...Even microwaving destroys some of the benefits of raw...The Primal raw site even mentions not to heat in the microwave...I put my kidz raw under a hot light, for a few minutes, just to take the chill off... |

Yes, the cooking does destroy the good stuff that comes in raw. This "good stuff" is good for healthy dogs. HOWEVER, our old dog, Guru (who recently passed away), was on prednisone for years because of a condition similar to Chrohn's disease. Because of the prednisone, he was unable to eat raw food (prednisone depresses the immune system). We fed him a combination of cooked meat and cooked Nature's Variety medallions. He loved them and I felt like he still was able to get a really good, healthy diet. And we must have done something right because he was on a fairly high dose of prednisone for over three years and lived to the age of 17+. Oh, and he was a 60+ pound dog. |
I wanted to get this but it is not close enough for me. |

If you find a place that you can drive too that is no more then 1 hr away... It's worth it BY FAR .. Izzy was acting very weird...And now all of the sudden she is active again, happy and playfull. She is soooo happy eating this... Whenever I went to the fridge today she gave me this look of "ok I'm ready..where's mine" ? We LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!!!! :number1ri:cheer::woof: |
I now take out the medallions 2 days ahead and defrost in refrigerator, so I don't have to defrost in the microwave, that was only on emergencies when I have forgotten. I'm glad your baby likes raw, all of mine love it!! |
