Pet Therapy That sounds so wonderful. I plan to enroll Mocha in class to become a Pet Therapist. There's great demand for this kind of volunteer work, at least in my area. Pets are needed to visit to hospices and retirement homes. I checked out the class and they said pet must be at least 1 years old and have gone through basic training. Mocha had basic training at PetSmart so I just need to wait until he's one. Can't wait!:aimeeyork |
That sounds like a great project. I know there will be some very happy senior citizens. |
I hope so. I love seeing people (and my Furbaby) happy and making people smile. |
I am so excited for you, and I hope your program goes full steam ahead and passes with flying colors. Yorkies are great for being able to sense things that we humans cannot. I suffer from focal seizures and most of the time I can feel them coming on. On rare occasions, I will have one instantly with no warning signs. Or should I say, I had no warning signs before. My Emma can sense when I am getting ready to have one. She comes to where I am, and if I am sitting down, she climbs in my lap, gets right in my face, starts sniffing, licks it, and then starts whining. This is very odd behavior for her. If I am standing she circles me and begins to whine. When she does this, Wayne knows to get me in a safe position right before I start to seize, or if I am alone I know to get somewhere safe. She is my baby girl, and I thank god he sent her to me. It is very satisfying to know that others will be able to benefit from these amazing creatures. Good luck! :aimeeyorkYorkieProud:aimeeyork |
How wonderful! Yorkies do help heal people, and make our days brighter :) There's this time when we were at the mall with Kenzie and this boy with Down Syndrome and his parents came to say hi and the boy did pet Kenzie and he was sooo happy and her mom said thank you. Aw, bless these doggies :) |
