kind of new I have been reading YT for long while now because I have Annabelle who is 16 m. For a while I have been thinking about getting another because she is starting to cry and whin alot because she want to go out side. About 3 wk. ago I went 70 miles with her to meet a 4 yr. old at a rescue center and the meeting went ok .Annabelle growled a little bit but most of the time she just followed her around. I got Angel the next day and my Annabelle followed and would nip alittle at her. By 2 days later she was attacking her. with in a week I had to seperate them because Annabelle attacked her all the time. I have a GF who lost her dog last fall and every time she was here she would say she wanted a small dog so I called her last week and asked if she still wanted a small dog and she came and fell in love with Angel. So now she is being spoiled by her and her husband. I fell so sad because she was such a good dog. Housebroke, loved learning how to sit and have her belly rubbed, never braked. Now Annabelle is back to whinning and crying for my attention all the time. I get nothing done. If I didn't have a home business. And I am afraid to get a puppy to play with her. I have one cat that will play with her until Annabelle gets ruff. What am I to do? |
Sounds like she has you well owned :) I am sorry that you had to give up Angel i cant give you any advice on what to do because i have no idea i just have a tiny little puppy but i am sure people on here would be able to help. Good luck xxx |
Hi and welcome to YT. The behaviour Annabelle displayed towards Angel is perfectly normal, a new member has entered her 'pack' and she needs to let Angel know her place in the pack. She was also protecting her pack (you) and her territory (your house). I have had my yorkie pup for 5 weeks now and I have had my older cross breed bitch for 10 years. My older cross breed isnt happy about it and will sometimes growl or snap at the pup if she gets too close but things are gradually getting better, it just takes time. Try to socialise your pup with lots of other dogs and get her used to other dogs coming into her home if you want to get another dog. When you do decide on your new dog introduce them away from the home and then take things slowly.. seperate them when they are alone and you could try crating them in seperate crates next to each other at night and when you arnt home so they can get to know each other safely. Good luck. |
