I'm not arguging. lol Sorry if you can't tell I've got some legal backround and always see the other side of things. Yes some of what you said does sound very fishy and personally wouldn't want to get involved either. But you said he looks like he was well groomed and cared for. Maybe she felt she didn't need to ask any more from what you had told her. Maybe she just cares if he goes to a good home and doesn't care to do a backround check and go the extra steps of following up or staying in touch. Some people just don't care. Not everyone is so caught up with their dogs like some of us. Things that may not be normal to us are normal to other people. You said it was a shady neighborhood, maybe thats just the kind of people they are. I just don't see how he would be vetted and look like hes been cared for good if he wasn't loved or if she didn't care at all for him. Mainly I was arguging that the rehoming fee was not bad and worth it. |
I think a second dog is ALWYAS a good thing b/c they can keep each other company and can play and do all the doggie things we can't understand... Did you look at this rescue already? Rescue Me Yorkie RescueWe got our Maggie from them and they are very reputable. Their dogs are not on Petfinder, though... |

She told me she just got him groomed, so she probably got him looking nice to sell him, obviously. She had his puppy picture listed in the penny savers ad, he looks totally different from that now. Puppy pictures capture more peoples attention, obviously. Like I said, I already did it once with Jackson and still feel bad about that. The woman I got Jackson from was a nice lady in a bad neighborhood (Baltimore City) as well, and yeah she kissed the puppies goodbye and "cared" about the puppies, but she was BYB breeding, and not bettering the breed, or health testing, etc. I just don't wanna make the same mistake twice and contribute to things I don't believe in. |
I think you should go with your heart. In the end it is you that has to make the final decision. If you are uncomfortable with this situation proceed with caution. When the time is right you will know. |
I wonder why she wouldn't let you go in the yard? The house, I can see, maybe it was a mess or ??, but her yard? Seems odd. |
These are hard economic times for a lot of people. Their fortunes may have reversed since they got the puppy. They might genuinely need the money. Who knows. He sounds like a great little puppy. But you need to do what feels right for you. |
I'm resurrecting this thread because... well, I can't get this dog out of my head. I text the owner yesterday, simply out of curiosity, if she still had Marco. I thought he would have found a home by now, but nope, he's still there with her. And she asked how Jackson was doing, and that her son was having surgery today so I could get him Saturday (for $400, still, obviously) since today and tomorrow she's going to be taking care of her son. So that made me feel a little bad. Maybe she's truly just struggling financially and needs the extra money. I dunno. After ALL that... I'm almost sure I'm going to go Saturday and just GET him! I feel like I will be missing out on a great dog if I don't, regardless of the situation. I just can't get him out of my head. I don't really like where he's coming from, but I suppose if I'm still thinking about him, something must be there telling me to go get him. I would give him an amazing life. |

If you were still thinking of Marco then it is meant to be. Best wishes and can't wait to see pics of him! Congrats!:animal-pa |
Thanks you guys! :) Now for names.... I don't like Marco. :( I've got a few I like but can't decide on one. For some reason, I tend to like more 'people' names, or even more last name-type names (Jackson, etc). I've thought of Tanner, Parker, and Walker (as you can tell, all last names sort of, lol) It'd be cool to have another 'J' name but I can't find any I'm too fond of. Jasper is okay but sounds too close to Jackson, I think. Jackson came about because of the Johnny Cash song 'Jackson' originally, and I'm also a Michael Jackson fan, so it just clicked and I immediately couldn't get the name out of my head when I saw his photo. I couldn't think of anymore MJ-related names, or Johnny Cash (not that I'm a big fan of JC or anything). |

I've already decided, the first thing we're going to do is go to the dog park after picking him up and letting them play and see how they interact better off leash, etc. |
new little boy ? I would say go get that little guy. He would be much better off with you. I like people names as well. And all of mine are people names ending in "ie" good luck:animal36 |
I think it was meant to be if he has been stuck in your head like that! Hope it all goes well and . . . I like Walker. |
