Help! I want my husband back!! :-) Ok, here is my dilemma you guys. My baby Gizmo loves his daddy, and sleeps on the couch with him until my hubby comes to bed at around 3ish AM. (He works late, and has to wind down) Well, sometimes he can sneak in and sleep for a bit, but as soon as Gizzy notices he is alone, he comes to the gate and starts yelping. He won't shut up until one of us goes out there, then he goes back to sleep. He does NOT like to be alone, my hubby can't sleep on the couch all night, and neither can I. I don't know what to do. (PS--We only keep him in the living room-kitchen area. I'm afraid of what he would do all night if I tried to let him sleep in our bedroom...) |
the only advice i can give is to crate him when he whines eventually he will realize that when he cries he gets crated, this is easy for me to say but in honesty of my three dogs i only crate one and she is blind and gets nippy when feet get close to her head. |
let him sleep in yur bed |

Both of mine sleep through the night in our bed. I would suggest allowing him to sleep with you guys :) |
Most nights all four sleep in our bed! They could care less about us! They like the bed! JK:D |
try to crate him in your room, if that doesn't work try lettng sleep in your bed. If you are worried about him piddling at night get a belly band :D Good luck! |
Try putting him in a crate/pen in your bedroom? |
Mine all sleep in their crates in our room! At bedtime all i say is "who wants to go to bed" and they jump up and head upstairs with me and each goes to his or her crate and gets in! We had them in our bed for a while but, the bed is a queen and with the 3 of them it got a bit crowded! Good luck with whatever you try! Everyone needs their sleep!!;) |
We used the same solution for the dogs as children. (We also have a big dog) when all else fails let them sleep with you! We have 3 dogs and two children and there are nights we are all in there together! Good thing we have a King size bed. My dogs never get up at night and have accidents. Most days I get up before them. Good Luck! |
My little guy sleeps with me and behaves wonderfully - just curls up at the bottom of the bed and sleeps through the night. If I left him in another room overnight - he'd be up all night crying. But because I am right beside him all night, he calms down and sleeps perfectly. |

When its bedtime Pixie jumps up on the bed and sleeps inbetween us. But, we close our bedroom door so she cannot get out, plus it keeps the cat out who can be a problem. No crate is needed. |
When we turn off the tv at night, usu at 10pm, Gypsy is ready to go to the bedroom. If we take our time getting up, she tells us to hurry. Puff has to sleep next to dh till he falls asleep with Gypsy down lower between us. Our new pup, Seymour finally ends us at our feet with Puff (when she settles). While it is hard to cuddle with dh, my opinion the more the merrier in the bed. LOL that sounds kinky. But you know what I mean. |
Hammer sleeps UNDER our bed. We wiggles WAYYY to much and I cant take it. Ive made a comfy spot under there and he sleeps down there :) I would suggest the crate though.... whining is not cool and the puppy needs to learn that! |
Sleeping in the bed; one man's opinion Ours have always slept in our bed, they don't know differently. My wife and I love it (yes, we've created a couple of little spoiled brats). There's a little bench at the foot of our bed so they can jump on and off anytime they want. I even made some little stairs so they can get on and off the guest bedroom bed as they please (sometimes I sleep in there). Our little Coco loves to "burrow" under the covers and Gracie likes to be at the foot of the bed on top of the covers (she's our little "watchdog"). The only thing I would say to watch out for is that you and your husband be extra careful not to "roll over" on your little Gizmo. Believe it or not, once you get used to sleeping with them you learn each others habits and it ceases to be a concern. Good luck !!!! |
My DH has went so far as to stack the pillows a certain way at the foot of the bed so if she needs to get down she can! But she moves through the night starts by her dad and is nuzzled by me in the morning. I guess she gives us equal time.. |
My husband said no dogs in the bed right when we got Sophie, but after both of us having to get up throughout the night, we slipped her in between us and she curls up under the cover next to either one of us!!!! No problems whatsoever.....except for hubby having to change his rule! LOL :) |
