Question from a Newbie I have searched the site and the internet and the public library for an answer to this question, the only thing I haven't done is ask my breeder because she is on vacation! Please forgive me if the answer is already in here, I did try to find out before posting: My puppy is just a few days old and still with Mom at the Breeder's. Would it be helpful in the long run if I were to give the Breeder my puppy's crate prior to bringing her home? I want her to be used to it and have the comfort of the familiar when she gets here. Thanks for your help! p.s. Is there a group for Newbies? I think I need it! |
Your puppy still needs to stay with Mom. I would send a blanket or someting like that for her to get used to having and then bring it home with you. |
You could give the breeder an article of clothing that has your scent on it. Or get a small blankie for the crate, and have your scent on that then give that to the breeder. The blankie would hold your scent and so when you pick your baby up, put the blankie in the crate, your puppy will have a familiar scent. Hope this makes sense to you. |
I suggest what they suggest! A blanket of piece of clothing. Honestly, the pup should do JUST fine without.. but if it makes you feel better :) |
Hello :) I pick up my little girl 2morrow so i am also a newbie hehe!! I gave my breeder a blanket so my poppy could have the small of her brother and sisters on it on her first night home with me. Might settle her a little bit. Hope to see pictures soon :D xxx |
Good luck with the new pups, you guys. Can't wait to see pics! I agree with the advice on the article of clothing. As for the crate, I'd defer to the breeder on that. I always thought pups slept together while with the breeder and weren't crated, but I could easily be mistaken. |
