8 month old Yorkie Hello my yorkie is 8 months old. Can anyone advisde if I should get her teeth pulled? I was told they don't come out on their own. Is that really true? |
No it isn't true. They should come out on their own. I did have to have two of Beamer's baby teeth pulled as they hadn't fallen out and he had double canines. He was almost two. But your baby's teeth should come out on their own:) |
I have not had to have any of Rosie's pulled. They all took care of themselves!! Have you seen a vet? I would think they could advise you if there was a need or not. Good luck! |
I had to have two of Lucy's baby teeth pulled when she went in for her spay. They had not fallen out on their own and her adult teeth were trying to come in on top of them. She was almost a year old. |
Sometimes they do have to be pulled. Usually this is done when you spay or neuter. If the baby teeth are causing problems, such as displacing the adult teeth, than you should have them pulled. You don't want to mess up you babies bite, so have your vet take a look, then you can decide what to do. |
Maddie had to have 2 teeth pulled at the time she was spayed at 7 1/2 months. Libby had 3 teeth pulled at about 7 months. Faith was 10 months old at the time of her spay and had 14 teeth pulled. By that time, some of her adult teeth were crooked from the crowding of the baby teeth. Faith is smaller of my three and I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I don't think her baby teeth would have ever fallen out on their own. |
chester had to have a couple of teeth pulled when he got neutered and got his chip at 6 months |

Ziva's teeth at 6 1/2 months were doubled up and really tight if we did wait I don't think her teeth would be as perfect as they are now (7 pulled at spay)Her gums were almost perfect by the next day, way better than the way they were swollen with the double teeth. There was no blood,no big wounds or gaps. |
Andy ate soft foods for a short time. He bounced back pretty quick . His teeth were double rowed and an awful mess . I'm pretty sure he was uncomfortable before surgery |
I have two yorkies and my Bailey who is 14 yrs now didn't have to have any pulled but Bella did she had to have one pulled..you just have to keep an eye on them cause once you see the permanent tooth is in and the baby tooth hasn't fallin out you need to have it removed ASAP so it doesn't damage the permanent tooth, usaully its the baby canines that will have to be pulled. |
Both of mine had several pulled when spayed/neutered. They did well, ate soft food and my vet gave them pain meds. They were fine in a couple days |
Bailey had his top baby canines removed, the adult teeth were not out when he was neutered at 6 months, so he had the baby canines pulled a couple months later, they were in there solid, and would not have fallen out on their own. |
