Brooklyn is a big girl Hello all. Just popping in to say I guess it's a good thing I wasn't dead set on having a teeny tiny Yorkie. I took Brooklyn to the vet today, she's 13 weeks and already 4 lbs . The vet estimated that she'd probably be at least 10 lbs or so. He didn't think she'd be one of the largest, but definitely not a tiny girl. I've been reading through the old threads and looking at the growth charts. She's way off the charts so no breed standard weight for her. She's at least 3 weeks ahead of the charts. That said, she's fitting in great, so far very healthy, and my daughter and I love her dearly so it's all good. Pics soon. She's going to get a puppy grooming in a couple of days. |

Wow! That's good. I like seeing bigger yorkies! They look awesome! Can't say the same thing for my bazinga...I believe he's some where in the middle. He's 14 wks and about 2 lbs....tiny baby. |

Don't be too sure yet...Rocco was close to 4lbs at that age and also off the charts. He's now 7.5 months and about 6lbs. He could get to 8 or 10lbs if he has a growth spurt, but he might have done most of his growing early on. I'm just waitin' and seein' :D By the way, all 4lbs of Brooklyn are absolutely PRECIOUS! |

 Madison was 5lbs at 12 weeks....she is now 14lbs:) She is 1 1/2 yrs old. |

when i was born, i weighed 14 lbs. lol and I'm no yorkie. |

Bigger yorkies are way better! One of my little guys is about 14 pounds (he's not fat). He's a sturdy guy and great for long walks and traveling. My understanding is that "Yorkies" were derived from several different kinds of terriers and were initially categorized by the AKC as being over or under 5 lbs. However, over time, they were "bred down" to get to the size that is considered breed standard today. The result of this is that, the crapshoot that genetics is, you never really know what you're going to get. |

Jackson was 6lbs at 12 weeks old, and he was 12lbs by 6 months old. He stayed 12lbs until a little over 1 year of age, now he is a healthy sturdy 15lbs. :) |

Congratulations:) you are going to have a teapot! The larger yorkies are a lot of fun and more sturdy. My 7lber is great because he can jump off the couch and I can take him to the dog park without having to worry about him as much as my 4lber. Enjoy her! |

hahahahahaha, I was hoping Teegy would be bigger. From what I've read too small means many health issues. He's almost 5lbs and approaching a year, please please please 1 more pound... |
