Never Again! 4 Attachment(s) Will I trust an amateur groomer... Horrid experience, I show up, she seems friendly, Rizzo takes some time but sort of warms up to her. Everything seems to be going okay, then she starts to groom him, he freaks out. I tell her to take it easy on him she says he's fine...Naturally I argue that he is not, and I would know being I'm with him all the time, so I can generally tell if he is unhappy and needs a second to adjust to the new experience. So she takes a break, Rizzo is calm again so she starts again, she decides to start to trim around his face...it is awful, I kept my mouth shut and figured she was just starting she would clean it up in the end...well then she pulls out the blades and starts to get to work on his body again, he yelps extremely loud, I tell her to stop. She tells me he is fine, that he just doesn't like to be groomed and that my freaking out is only feeding his distress. I tell her to stop grooming him and that we are leaving. I pick him up look at his leg and to my horror he is bleeding. She pinched off some of his skin with her blades. I refused to pay her and left without another word. Needless to say, Rizzo is only going to be groomed from home or by a professional. I'm going to have to see if my landlady can find a good one that can clean up her mess once Rizzo recovers... |
a few more 4 Attachment(s) the first is still from when we got home, the last are after I cleaned up around his face so the hair was no longer in his eyes...and I put some Neosporin on his wound, anyone else have a suggestion to help it heal quick? |
So sorry Rizzo and you had a bad experience. You can try aloe vera, alternately with the polysporin, for wound healing. Pros with a strange dog, should almost never start grooming at the face. body grooming first. always. Did she even brush him out prior to starting to scissor? |
Oh how horrible...poor little guy...I'm so sorry. :( Are there any Mobile Groomers in your area? |
He looks so much better after you fixed him up! I'm so sorry he was so distressed! Sending well wishes and hopes he gets better soon! You can try WitchHazel to help the little cut heal faster. |
She ran a brush through his hair first, like I said, started off with good vibes then it rapidly went downhill. Unfortunately since I dont speak the native language here it's hard for me to find any type of groomer but I think I can try to get it across to my landlady using google translate. I'll try the witch hazel, strangely enough I've got some and didn't think to use it. Thanks guys, Rizzo is doing a lot better now that he is home and back in relax mode. He is about ready for his nighttime "yard security check" |
Good luck with the translator. If you have a blackberry, there's an application called FancyTran, it works REALLY well. :) It's great for 'on-the-go' translations. Yea, I'm a really large fan of the Witch Hazel. I love the stuff, I use it on me, my cats and my dog. It's pretty awesome. |
Aw i am so sorry this happened. I hope your little guy is ok. In our groomers in england you just drop the dog off leave and return 1 and a half hours later. I think i might have to stay now the first time i take poppy to the groomers. Hope your little guys leg is ok. xxx |
So sorry to hear about Rizzo's experience. I hope he's better soon. I did want to tell you though what a cutie he is! (He has the same coloring as our little girl, Natalie.) |
Poor baby....where did u take him???? Just so I know not to make the same mistake. |
Poor baby! :cry8: He should have got her blood too:D I think some of these groomers are way to rough with these babies! |
What a nightmare. I'm so sorry you and he had to go through that. It's hard enough to communicate without having a language barrier. Bless your heart. Wishing you and Rizzo the best. |
I thought things were suppose to be WONDERFUL in Italy. Sorry to hear about your horrible experience. When I took Roxy in for her first trip to the groomers I asked them if they were familiar with the Yorkie breed and how many they do in a month. When I took her up there I felt even better because there were 3 Yorkie's there and she called to them by name when we walked in and mind starting making herself "heard" |
Sorry you had such a lousy experience. Your Rizzo is adorable! |
He's still a cutie! |
