Ahh so excited!! Hiya everyone. I drove the hour journey to visit Poppy today. She has grown loads in the last 12 days its amazing :p! She has a little fat bum lol and such a cute little face. I just wanted to take her home with me tonight... but only 1more week to go. Even tho i aint spent more then 90mins altogether with her i still feel so much love for her that i actually miss her right now, is that daft? I gave the breeder a little blanket to put in with the pups so when i take her home on the first night Poppy will still have the comforting smell of her mummy, brother and sisters. I think i have everything in place ready for when she arrives home on Sunday. Her bed is all made up in her play pen in the livingroom. I have a huge pink bucket full of toys, treats, blankets, bows, puppypads etc for her. I even bought a book called ''The Perfect Puppy''. Her food and water bowls are empty all really and waiting to be filled up when she arrives home. I have bought some lactol milk just incase she wanted some when she arrives home. I have booked in her appointment at the vets for 8.30am on Monday morning (the day after she arrives). I have an appointment at 'pets at home' with the nuticianist to help me decide what would be the best food for her. I have also been looking at pet insurance and i think petplan looks a good bet... but if anyone from the uk has any good pet insurance please let me know;). Does anyone know where i can get nuti-cal from in England, does the pet shops sell it because i have not seen it over here in England? I have put the money to pay for little Poppy away to one side so all i am waiting for is for her to arrive home next week :D Is there anything else i need to do before she arrives? I am so excited i think i just might burst hehe!! Really REALLY excited i just cant WAIT :p |
sounds like you are super prepared!! I cant wait to see all the pictures when Poppy arrives! |
Thank you :). I am panicing just a wee bit incase i have missed something important. Yes i will upload ALOT of pictures when my little girl is home :D xxx |
Enjoy your little one |
How wonderfull your excitement leaps through the page. Is the breeder going to send her home with some of the food she is currently eatting? Might be a good idea. Have you bought a carrier for her? ie a crate so when you take her to the vets she has a warm snuggy safe place to wait for her appt? Tiny harness? Nutrical not sure what the name is in England. But corn syrup or maple syrup will do in a pinch, just try after giving to give some long acting carbs and or proteins. It sounds like you've done a bang up job on preparing for your wee one. Will you be able to be home for her in her first few days? Help her to settle in? Once again we await the pics with glee. Enjoy your wee one, they are so precious especially when pups! |
Ohh no i have not got a create to take her to the vets... good idea i didnt even think of that... see what would i do with out you guys haha! Right thats on my list to get this week before she arrives :D No i have not got her a tiny harness just yet i as thougt i would wait till she arives so i can measure her... do you think it would be best to get her one now? Yes i have the first 2days off work so she can settle in while i am around. I work 2mins from where i live so even when i am at work i will be popping back throughout the day to make sure she is ok. Then i will be home on my lunch hour and when i finish my lunch hour my bf who also works 2mins away will be coming home on his lunch hour so she wont be alone for long hehe! Could you explain about the maple syrip alittle more please? I dont fully understand whet nutri-cal does... sometimes i aint to bright sorry. So what would the maple syrip do? Sorry if thats a silly question lol. xxx |

Thank you both hehe!! I have just re arranged my livingroom so the puppy pen fits in perfect, as i know we will be using it ALOT in the next 6months or so... and its fitted really nice into my livingroom :D. Cant wait till shes here to go in it tho lol instead i have to make do with a toy dog in the bed haha! |
You asked about the nutrical or syrup. These small dogs sometimes have a problem with hypoglycemia. (google it) They need a bit of sugar boost when this happens. Giving them some nutrical or syrup helps. One time I needed it for a pup I had and I didn't have any syrup or nturical. I used peach jelly and it worked. I got some nutrical on my next trip to the vet. |
You are going to REALLY enjoy her. Congratulations!! I can feel your excitement and am excited for you. |
Sounds like all you need is Poppy. |
That is one lucky pup to have a super prepared mom like you. :) Congrats and enjoy your little one! |
Wow! You are super prepared; what a lucky puppy she's going to be. I got a small travel carrier for Lucy but ended up not getting her the harness until after I brought her home. The breeder did send some of her food home; and a shot schedule and all her vet records for me to take to her vet. She also sent home a toy that had the scent of her littermates on it because she will be missing them that first night. Congratulations and enjoy! |
Awwe, I can feel your excitement :) It sounds like you are more prepared than a person adopting a human child. :) If you can't find nutri-cal there, then try ordering it online (make sure you get the puppy version)....or maybe one of us from YT in the states can pick some up for you and mail it asap :) |
Thanks i am going to google it and see if i can find it online :D I woke ip at 6am this morning really excited lol. I dont think i will get ANY sleep on saturday night lol xx |
YAY! Im very excited for you :) Sounds like you have nearly everything you need for Poppy's arrival. I think you should get her a carrier/crate to carry her in for vets visits though, I didnt get Poppy one and at the moment its difficult to take her places in the car as I always need someone with me to hold her while I drive.. so I have a carrier in the post from Ebay but you can buy a pretty pink one from Pets at Home. Pets at home told me the best food for my Poppy was Wainwrights so I have the wet and the dry versions of the chicken and rice and I am in the process of getting her onto dry only. Also about the puppy milk... I bought Poppy puppy milk when I first brought her home and noticed she drank all the milk but didnt eat any of her food so I think it was lying quite heavy on her stomach.. when she had her vets visit they told me I shouldnt be giving her milk at that age (6 weeks) because she has already been weaned off her mammys milk and it could give her the runs. So they told me just to give her water and I noticed her stools were much better and she started eating her dinner properly. I have a kitten harness from Pets at Home for Poppy as its the only one that will fit her (shes 10 weeks and just over 1 pound) so you could try one of those as I find the xsmall harnesses are still too big. Other then that sounds like you have everything sorted :) cant wait to see photos! |
OoOo Thanks Rachel i will have a look at pets at home for a Kitten harness and a create. OMG i am so excited i could burst. I defo got monday and tuesday off work next week so i will be home with her for the first few days, and then my OH is at home on the wednesday with her. I feel like i am taking maternity leave LOL :D :D :D xxx |
I know the feeling :) and they are like little babies too! |
Awww, how exciting! Congratulations:) Post lot's & lot's of pictures! |
I'm excited for you! My puppy comes home on the 14th! And I just can not wait! I have everything set up and now I'm looking into getting Pet Insurance for him! I still need the harness but I'll probably get that after he arrives! Good luck and I can't wait to see photos! |
