That's what I was going to ask. I wonder how long it would take to learn? I am planning on shutting my store down two weeks prior to christmas, take a little break. I wonder if I could knit a sweater in that amount of time. I have no clue where to even begin.

The art of hand knitting has been practiced for thousands of years. How this art was originally learned is a mystery but some believe that it originated in Persia. Others claim Israel, Jordan and Syria as its origin, and still others claim mountains of North Africa.

but....aha.... the first knitting machine was invented by an english clergyman.

That sounds like a great book and a great hobby (I learned how to knit in elementary school). But I've taken up so many hobbies and half finished them. So not sure if it's the best idea.

Yay! I love knitting but hadn't seen any good doggie patterns....we'll be going to the craftstore! As for everyone who doesn't know how to knit. There is a really neat site on the net knittinghelp.com that has videos to help. It's harder to learn than to knit anything afterwards. Once you get the hang of it it's really easy!

We wish! The sought after form of holding needles etc. is actually called English or Continental knitting.
