Fried Yorkie? On more than one occassion, Lizzy has gone out, plopped down on the patio and started frying herself. I mean, she does this in the middle of the afternoon, on HOT concrete. Dogs don't commit suicide do they? She seems like a happy dog, no serious psycological problems that I am aware of.;) The IGs will plop down in the hot sun too, but they wouldn't dream of laying down on concrete, I mean, on rough ground, no way. They lay in the grass which isn't nearly as hot as the concrete. |
I use to have a s...tzu and she was always sunny herself. It could be that Lizzy is cold and wants to get warm. |
My neighbor's dog does that. I just look at Deb - my neighbor - and we share a look of OMG. Then, Chai gets up and runs into the grass like, "OMG MOMMY! EETS HAWT!" |
Hmm that is a little strange, considering my dogs won't even walk on the concrete when it's hot outside. :p Little prissy boys. They do, however, love to lay inside by the window and sun themselves that way. :) |
Nope, not any of mine. They pant as soon as they get in the warm sun. However, they do follow the sunlight around the rooms as it comes in through the skylights and will lay in the sunspot on the floor. |
Dudley will lay on the pavers when we are in the pool:rolleyes:.....whay he doesn't go in the shade is beyond me....;) My last yorkie used to lay on them too....I just thought it was a yorkie thang!!:D |
Mine seek out the shade... They want to get as far as they can away from the hot stuff :p |
Boo does this. It's even funnier to watch him s-l-o-w-l-y turn himself over to 'fry' the other side. :D |
Roxie does this all the time! She will scratch at the door to go out, and as soon as we get her outside she just flumps down and wants to get some sun! She isn't picky - she will lay on the grass or on the concrete - doesn't matter to her! |
1 Attachment(s) Cooper does this all the time! Sometimes he'll lay out on the grass, but other times he'll lay on the concrete patio. I caught him today and took a photo. He's laying out next to his pool:D BTW - it's 96 degrees today:rolleyes: |
If I can't see Beamer I know where he is - he spends a lot of time in the dining room by the French window. The dining room is the coolest place in the house. He does spend time outside before it gets too warm.:) |
I haven't let Gunnar out in the back yard as it being redone and torn up, but when I had my chi, he would lay on the roof shingles we had on the ground between the vegetable garden boxes. They are light gray, but still got hot. He looked like a miniature Spinx sunning himself. He never laid under the patio cover in the shade, or on the concrete. In the house he'd lay in the sunny spots on the floor. I still miss him.... |
I use to have a Basset Hound ad she use to love doing that, i figured that at least she was getting vit. D from the sun., but we live in Las Vegas and the sun can get pretty hot. |
Lol, I thought Joey was the only one that did that, he loves to lie on the hot concrete, and here in Arizona it really gets hot! Yesterday, he plopped down on it and turned and looked and me, and got right up, it was finally "too hot" I guess. |
I had a Bichon who loved to lie in the sun. I remember one summer when he got sunburn on his back lying out on the deck. We had to rub sun screen on him after that. I haven't thought about that in ages he's been gone for about 10 years now. |
