Thinking of getting another puppy 1 Attachment(s) We are thinking of getting a little puppy mate for Yorky once ore 18yr old cat goes, but we do not want another Yorkie although we love him dearly we know that he is a high maintenance dog with having to take him to the groomer, as he is a very lively little boy we need a puppy with just as much energy, but with a short coat, what would people suggest? We love our little Yorky and would like to get another but we will not be able to put in the work with it's coat and would not be able to pay for the groomer all the time, as in a few years I will be on a pension?:aimeeyork |
you can get a chi, they have short coats and small dogs seem to be bursting with energy. |
I agree a chi sounds perfect :) Also you could try grooming him yourself? I know alot of members here do that.. you could ask in the grooming forum! |
Yep, I try to groom Rizzo myself, it works for the most part, but he is still young so I'm still figuring out what I want. I actually made an appt to see an amature groomer (she's working on getting her pro license) Saturday, and I figure I'll just try to make mental notes of what she is doing for future home cuts. :D |
My little one's BFF is a chi! They are almost exactly the same size, and they run around and play together for hours until they crash out and nap together on the same blanket. There is a picture of the two of them in my photo album :) The chihuahua is my current roommate's dog and I dread the thought of separating them when I move. If I were to get another dog, I'd definitely consider a chi. Their coats are definitely pretty maintenance-free, especially compared to a Yorkie! |
How old is your boy? Is he high or low energy? I have a mini-doxie who loves to wrestle and play with Rhett. He's also maintenance free as far as his coat goes. |

Good luck with your dog search. I'm sure you will find the perfect little one to bring home and spoil. :D |
Get you a trimmer set and go practicing. I groom all mine..I am not the best but in 2 weeks they look great. |
