Petland Wow. Was looking for jobs for my sister when my DBF comes across this ad... tells me how perfect it sounds. I asked him if he could spell puppy mill for me. Ridiculous that they advertise like this. No wonder people don't have a clue. Quote:

Sounds like it could be a lie. |
I think they cut off a little bit of the ad. The rest of it should read: Can you lie with a straight face while telling customers that all of our pets come from local breeders and not puppy mills? Can you look the other way when sending home a sick puppy with a little girl who has fallen in love with it? Can you sleep at night knowing that any pets we don't sell during their prime period of cuteness will be put down? If so, do we have an acting job for you! |
Now that sounds like a complete ad now... Let's put it together. Quote:

That's more like it! |
We had a Petland close down last week in Dallas. One at a time but at least its happening. |
Sad Petland Video on Animal Planet tonight I was just watching Animal Planet tonight and saw the absolutely horrific conditions these poor animals have to live in. It is very sad that someone would do this to these defenseless dogs. At least it's being investigated. |

Petland I too watched with disgust and dismay the Animal Planet show last night. It looks like P*tl*nd (legal!) will be taken to court and hope that they get their just rewards for the puppy mill dogs they are alleged to sell as private breeders' pups. Will this puppy mill situation never be stopped????? One woman 'breeder' said with no shame that she had 20 dogs PTS as she did not like 'the way they looked'. There was nothing wrong with them. How I feel for these poor innocent animals and their terrible life. |
I wish I could have watched the program and learn about Petland and such pet shops which sell puppies. In England our pet shops dont sell dogs or cats only fish, reptiles and small animals e.g. rabbits But that dosnt mean that puppy mills dont exist here because they do :( Hopefully I will be able to catch a replay of it somewhere, its not a nice thing to watch but these programs need to be out there to educate people :) |
The Petland in Alpharetta closed last year. I had hoped that meant they had pulled out of GA altogether. Doing some surfing today, I was disappointed to find they are still here. :( I searched the corporate site and found something I thought was disturbing: Pet Welfare at Petland Petland is aware of the many animal welfare issues in the news today. We know that members of some animal rights groups would have you believe that all pet store puppies are bred and raised in substandard facilities. This is untrue. Petland also disagrees with the agenda of animal rights groups that would deny people the right to own and live with companion pets. Like you, members of the Petland family love pets, and we share your animal welfare concerns. The health and well-being of our pets comes first for each of us at Petland. Petland stores are independently operated by qualified franchisees. Each is responsible for choosing healthy pets offered to Petland customers. Petland, Inc. provides each Petland store with humane care guidelines to assist in this important task Talk about passing the buck. "We don't buy from puppy mills,it's the store owners who do..." |

Petland What a load of BS!!!! |

Thank you! I've been waiting for it to become a streaming video. |
I'm watching it right now, and they're talking to a Petland employee. I find what she says very interesting. She said, "puppymills are places where they keep the dogs in little cages" or something to that extent. Um.... isn't that what they do in Petland stores? Aren't all the puppies in small cages 2 or 3 dogs crammed in one cage at a time? |
There have been many exposes on Petland over the past few years, Dateline had a segment dedicated to puppymills and Petland was included in that, but there is just not enough exposure about them to get to all the people. When people go into those shops and see those cute little faces they just can't resist them. That is what Petland counts on. People are starting to get educated on where the puppies come from, that is what is causing some of them to close. The rescues, and breeders are out there informing potencial pet owners about the health hazards of those poor babies, and the torture that the parents of the puppies endure. |
This is just one unfortunate symptom of a larger problem. People don't ask questions because they don't want to know the answers. Simple as that. It's why most people eat junk, feed their dogs junk & buy puppy mill puppies. I hope that in the coming years we can find a way to make people more aware of where those cute little pups in cribs & cages really come from. After all, it wasn't too long ago that many of us were oblivious too (ahem me). Because while the educated won't buy from these mills there are plenty of people who will, so right now we need the law to protect these babies. Ok thats my rant. On a side note I'd really like to see this Petland investigation on Animal Planet. |

Our Petland shut down. |
I'm watching the video and it is BREAKING my heart. How do people do that to dogs? To any creatures? How? |
We have one petstore that sells puppies :( It's a private petstore and they "say" they come from a breeder, but we all know what that means... I wonder if they've ever opened Petland one morning or anyother petstore that sells puppies and discoverd deceased puppies?? Sooo sad :( |

I wanted to go in there and be like, "SEE THOSE DOGS STANDING ON THE TEENY FREAKIN' MAT? IT'S CAUSE THAT WIRE HURTS THEIR FEET!" Then smash all the cages and take the poor babies away! |
