kinda weird question? Dollar is humping things now. he is only 3 months old and I have never had a boy dog before. Should we get him fixed? Will he grow out of this. It is kinda funny when he does it but I dont want him doing it to people when they come over...he humps everything...my leg, hand, socks even??? what can i do? |
My Thunder started humping at 3 months as well... Is he a bigger yorkie? He started when I gave him a stuffed dog, about the same size as him. Thats all he humps. I spoke to the vet about it, and he said it was very normal. So, my suggestion would be to give him a stuffed toy or something the same size as him. Maybe he will learn only to hump that, and not your legs. Make sure your stuffed toy is safe though. Also, I think some puppies need to be neutered a bit younger, depending on their size. I wouldnt stress about it like that, he's just a baby. Maybe talk to your vet next time you go for a vaccine or something. |
Sami started humping his future mother of his pups at 9 weeks old  my friends little yorkie is 5lbs and I brought sami over to visit, and we were shocked  that he was in love that soon :) |
I wouldn't Neuter at three months just because they are still young. Some people do Neuter at that age but my preference is to wait until they are 7-8 months old so that you can also get any baby teeth that haven't fallen out yet removed. You have a little boy so you don't have to worry about them going into heat or anything. But the biggest problem that i hear with an un-neutered male is that they do hump/mark a lot. I think pretty much the only thing you can do when he does that is say "No" and take away whatever he's doing it to. I did read something from a woman on here who has a male yorkie doing the same thing and she say's "No" when he does it infront of them but she has taught him that if he wants to do that then he can go into another room by himself. I thought that was kinda a cute idea. |
that is so cute...how funny...Ya it is weird. My boyfriend got home before me yesterday and I called on my way home and he told me that he was humping everything...and I was like no..not my baby! he is only 3 months old...my how they grom..lol He is very small. he only weighs 1.6...so it is kinda funny....hehehe poor thing. i will just have to tell him "NO" :lol tears |
I believe my little guy started humping at an even earlier age like 9-10 weeks. I don't like it at all and I think it's gross. He would only hump his stuffed toys or his little girlfriend Josie. Everytime I saw him do this I would give him a little spanking or a squirt of water and say no. Do not laugh at them if you laugh at them they will think the behavior is a good one. I got my little guy fixed as early as possible at 19 weeks because I didn't want to deal with marking or humping and just so you know my guy is pretty big he was 7.2 lbs when I got him fixed. And He still humps some since the surgery. I just say no and he quits. One thing I find cute though is when he gets ready to hump his little stuffed animals he carries them to either a pillow, blanket, or one of his beds before he starts going at it. I think it's so cute that he wants his little friend to be comfortable. |
that is funny! how cute....and i just silently laugh to my boyfriend....b/c while it is gross it is so cute...but ya. i am just going to say no and push him off.... hehe :p |
Even some females hump to show dominance so having him fixed won't take of it completely. It is normal and some do it more than others. :) |
A Lot of puupies hump male and female. |
yeah I took Tigger to doggie Day camp once and at first he was scared but then he found a cute small Black female Poodle and he wouldn't leave her alone! all he wanted to do is hump her!!! it was funny to watch them spray him with water and him just look up at them like "what, I'm just doing what feels good, what's wrong with that?" I wouldn't want little yorkipoos running around, although they are pretty darn cute in and of themselves. but he's so young as is that nothing could happen but just humping. He's four months old and weighs 3.3 pounds. Man was he persistent!!!! Poor girl. |
hahahahaha....LOL! |
Maggie started doing that too about that age. I was afraid she was starting her womanhood before her time. We had her spayed at 8 months old, and she has never raped her pink bear again. So, I would say that he needs to be fixed before he knows what girls are all about. |
what if later on i get a girl puppy and they have babies...is that ok? |
My Chloe's a girl and she humps Lacey at times, it's a dominance thing. Your little boy is too young to neuter. I think the rule is at least 4 months or older before spay/neutering. Half the time I ignore it and half the time I tell Chloe to stop. |
They are so little and my Bubba is fixed so I see no harm in it. He doesn't do it on me or anyone else. He does it to his toys. I quite often laugh because if you knew him, he's a crazy boy. People come over and ask what is he doing and I say, what does it look like. He only does it for a minute or two. I see no harm in it as long as they're not doing it on you!! |
