That would scare me too! We keep Fizz at a distance & have her sit. We observe first the dog, next the owner's control of the dog and then we speak to the owner before Fizz gets anywhere near. We DON'T take it at the owner's word either (unfortunately, there's a lot of irresponsible owners out there) it has to be a combination of all of the above before we let her near. If the dog is off leash - all bets are off, and she is scooped up and taken in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, I have only come across 2 people I trust with big dogs. A couple weeks ago, Teddy and I met a 4-pack of the best trained greyhounds in the world. The owner was a true dog whisperer, a strange man walking around the city with no shoes. :p I wish I would have asked for his phone number to learn all of his secrets of dog handling. |
