New Yorkie Mommy... Hello everyone! I wanted to come in an introduce myself. I am a 3rd grade teacher in Houston and will be getting my first yorkie next weekend. I am very excited and cant wait to get him. I am also nervous because I have never owned such a small dog! I have always had bigger dogs and my wonderful boxer Diamond "Indy" Ruff passed away last month. She died at the young age of 8 months due to seperation anxiety when I left her at my sisters house while I went out of town! Needless to say I was shocked and saddened. I am anxious to see how this little guy will adapt to my home and life. I will be feeding him Wellness puppy and will start training inside on potty pads due to living in a high rise. I have never done potty pads and hope it goes well! Hope everyone has a great day! |
oh yea.... Forgot to add I have already named him Mister Bentley! I thought it was super cute! |
Hi & Welcome to YT! SO sorry to hear about Indy!:( Congrats on your new addition, I love his name!;):D |
Welcome! Sorry to hear about Indy. Boxers are such amazing dogs. Cant wait for pictures of Mister Bentley! |
thanks you guys both... I have just been reading and watching videos.. want to make sure I do everything right! As far as potty training if I have the extra extra large kennel that I had for my boxer, can i use this and put a potty pad at one end while he is unable to roam free while unattended? Because as soon as he is able t be completely trusted alone in the house I will do away with all kennels. |
Welcome to YT!! Love the name you chose for your new baby, can't wait to see pics! Congratulations!!! :p |
Welcome. I don't know about a kennel for this. I would use an ex-pen or playpen, with training pad on one end, bed food and water on the other, with room in the middle for playtime. This keeps then safe, but still part of the family, I think a crate may separate them to much. JMO. |
Forgot to say congratulations on the new baby. |
Thanks... but as far as the pee pad or litter box in the large large kennel would only be while left unattended... ie at work. Otherwise he will be out with me.. do u still think this is a bad idea? |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |
I would go with the xpen if you are leaving while you work. Leave tv or radio on too. Congratulations! |
So sorry about Indy. Congratulations on Mr. B and welcome to YT. |
Wow Im sorry to hear about Indy, I didnt know dogs could die from that it's so sad :( Congratulations on your new pup and I love the name :) |
Welcome to you and Mister Bentley. Very sorry to hear about the loss of Indy. Mister Bentley is sure to bring you much happiness:) |
Thanks everyone... I really cant wait to get him. Honestly, I am very please to have joined this site first because I will no longer be getting the Mister Bentley next weekend that I had intended on getting. I read over some informative threads and started asking questions and things were not adding up.... I am still on the hunt to fin a good Breeder who cares about the puppies and not just the money. If anyone knows of anyone one here in Houston I would be more than thankful to get their contact info! |
