Barking collar for my baby.. We leave him alone for about 4- 6 hours at home and most times he is fine.. He either sleeps or plays with his toys ( we have a camera and thats how we know). BUt sometimes he barks like crazy. Neighbours and some other folks in apartment complex have complained about the barking. I am thinking of buying something like a barking collar to stop the excessive barking. Any recommendations on how to deal with this situation ? Thanks |
No collar. A roommate used it and she said it was safe. I heard her dog yelp in pain because he barked. |

Why don't you hire a dog walker to take him out once while you are gone? That might help :) |
I think that its kind of horrible to put a barking r on a dog! Its like not letting them express themselves and simply being dogs! Gert some toys, bones going outside to play and everthing so he gets tired and stops barking. He might be bored! |
The bark shock collars arrant safe for toy dogs they are meant for bigger dogs but I don't think its humane to even use for them. The only kind I would consider is the citronella bark collar |
Thats what I am also thinking that its inhumane.. Plus he is only 5 lbs ...I will check out the dog walker idea.. Thanks all |
the spray collar will probably be to big for him also, my neighbors dog has 1 they seem to only some in 1 size, my new yorkie cooper doesnt make a peep when i am home but barks when im gone, i leave the tv or a radio on for him, i also leave a tshirt i wore the night before where he likes to sleep, and i bought him a little pheremone collar found at pets stores and it seems to help, i work at home so im not out for long stretches but cooper doesnt like to be alone but these things have helped and i also try to wear him out with walks and super play before i know im going out. i hope you find something that works |
I used a citronella collar for a while but it honestly didn't help he would bark then the collar would spray and he would bark at the spray and try to attack it.... it was actually funny to watch. |
The bark collar may not be for you; but if your neighbors are complaining ~ then it is probably time for some type of action before you get in trouble. I think a dogwalker is a great idea if you can find one. You could try the 'coins in a can' method where you shake it ~Lucy hates the noise and will stop barking if she's off on a tangent. |
I couldn't imagine a barking collar. My Lola is a barker. I'm not sure if she does it when Im away. I believe she only barks when she sees something in the window. Other then that she loves to bark while we play ball or if she wants something she loves to whine. |
