Traveling / Vacationing with your pups We are leaving in Aug to go on vacation from Friday- Monday. We will leave Fri morning and return Monday evening. I am considering taking Piper with me. We *may* also have a little furry boy that is 6 months old by then. Unfortunately, the dane must stay home with my cousin. IF we choose to take the little one(s) with us, what tips will make life easier? We are staying in a friends condo along a private beach. Piper gets car sick if she is in the car longer than 20 min. If we don't take her (them), she (they) will stay with family while we are gone. |
I would suggest packing for her like you would a child. Here are some suggestions: -bed -food dishes and food -crate -blankets -carrier -potty pads and anything else she will need for the weekend. I have done a lot of travelling with my two, but mine fortunately do not get car sick. I think there is something you can get from your vet to help with motion sickness. Other than that, have fun and enjoy your weekend! It is a great feeling to have your pups along with you for the trip :) |
I just took my 3 month old on his first beach trip where we stayed at my dad's private beach house. It was a 6 hour drive and he loved it! I packed everything you would need for him on a daily basis such as his ex-pen, his bed, toys, blanket, food (and bring extra just in case), food/water dishes, nutri-cal, harness and leash, shampoo (or a spray-in conditioner) just in case he gets SUPER dirty from running around the sand like mine did haha. Also make sure to have some bottled water on you for the trip in case he gets thirsty, but I'm sure you know all that :p You should definitely bring your pup to the beach if you have the chance, he will have an absolute blast and you will too!! Have fun!!! :D |
We take Cookie with us just about everywhere so somethings that we bring are water for the car also treats and chews to keep her happy, also a few of her toys. Cookie loves to travel, but don't forget to stop every few hours for potty breaks. |
Thanks everyone! I am sure we will stop frequently since my kids are 4 1/2 and almost 3. They get tired of sitting in their carseats. LOL! |
When you are traveling what do you do about eating out? It's not always possible to eat outside, it's hot or what ever, and it's not fair to eat people food in front of the dog when he gets NO PEOPLE food. What do you do? I worry about that part.:animal-pa |
