I'm sorry if I've upset you, that was not my intention (and I'm sorry about the loss of your Sheltie :( ). Just trying to point out that there are red flags here with the breeder. Sometimes we just want something so bad, we can try to reason whatever it is that may stand in the way of getting it. I totally feel for you, being led on and then let down. One more question - have you visited the breeder's home yet and/or made arrangements to see the new pups there when ready? |
You didn't upset me - and I appreciate the comment about my Sheltie. He was my baby! I had him for 11 years and he put up a great battle with his Diabetes for a good almost 5 years. He was such a good doggie! :) I miss him, you know? *wibbles*
I have made arrangements to meet the breeder. We're going the first week of August, Beth, my mother and myself. We won't be picking Fynnlie up until the last week of August/first week of September. I spoke with the breeder again this morning and she apologized to me for her behavior and how she treated me. She said that she was really, really sorry and that she had excuses for how she acted but I told her I wasn't interested in them. (Of course I said it nicely, not flat-out I don't care.) I told her that the apology was accepted and that I still wanted her to answer my questions. Which she did, full out. She asked me questions, too. About my experience with small dogs, how long he would have to be by himself, if I planned to keep him groomed frequently. She also wanted the phone number to my Vet and I gave it to her. She asked about my other pets, previous dogs, my experience with taking care of dogs with possible health issues - I told her in detail about Jaxx, my Sheltie.
I'm actually feeling a lot better about her now, after we've had this talk. I still don't feel 100%. Her attitude that day has just really put a sour taste in my mouth. But, I'm giving her a chance. We're going down the first week of August to see her home, her puppies and to spend a little time with the parents.
I will keep you all abreast of the situation. Thanks so much for the support/advice/help with this. I really can't tell you how much I appreciate it. :) |
