Scared to get a male yorkie...marking! Okay, so I may have gotten the go ahead from the hubbs to bring home a male yorkie for Piper! (LOL!) I am concerned about one thing though....marking!!! I have a female dane and a female mix. If I add a male yorkie to this group how much should marking concern me? The Dane pees outside and Piper uses her potty pads. The male I bring in would be 5-6 months and neutered asap! |
Hey I am from Georgia also. I have a female and 2 male yorkies. My 2 boys either pee outside are use the potty pads. They have never marked. They are now 15 months and 9 months. Both of them were neutered at 6 months. |
Thanks for that Susan! Nice to meet you. By the way, I love that you have Calvin and Hobbes! |
I have two boys and one girl. My boys are Barney and he is age 10 (next month) and Teddy who will be 2 in november. Both of my boys are neutered and we only have marking when we go on walks or if we visit someone else's house. They have to be confined or put in belly bands when their environment changes. Other than that, they are good boys.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
My Bentley is 16 months and has never marked in the house. He does his potty outside and never in the house. I was at a pet friendly hotel and he never did anything in the room. He was neutered at 7 months and baby teeth removed at the same time. |
Thank you all! I am feeling better about this! |
I agree with the others, I've had male dogs all my life, and NONE have ever marked inside the house; on walks it's a different story. I do put a belly band on Joey if we are going to someone else's house who has a dog, the temptation is so great, but they make such cute belly bands, its not a problem. :p |
LOL! Okay, so pick up some super cute belly bands for my grandparents house! |

Not yet....If we end up getting him you will be the first people to know! |
Pasquale only marked when he was really young...but as soon as i got him neutered ...he stopped. He does mark when we go on walks...but not in the house. I also put a belly band on him when we go to other peoples house. I think it puts the person's house you are visiting more at ease knowing that there definitely wont be any pee in their house. |
I have to admit, I have a male yorkie and he can get very aggresive around bigger dogs. He growls and nips at other big dogs. |

I will never own a female dog again (atleast not planning too!) I love the boys far too much. Jackson has never ever marked indoors in my home or anyone elses (and we visit lots of other peoples homes). He still squats to pee most of the time but if we are in a public park or dog park, etc where other dogs have been, he will lift his leg on trees, etc but it's not totally obsessive. My stepmom also has a male dog and he is the same way, so does my aunt. Jackson was neutered at 7 months old. |
Ehh, I guess the growling at bigger dogs will have to be something he is 'trained' not to do LOL! Although, Lucy is a big baby so she would probably lay down and look at him like he was crazy! |
