X-Pen size?, harness size? Hi! I may be owning a 12-week old yorkie pup soon and needed some advice on xpens and harnesses! What size xpen should I buy? What's a size that I could use both indoors and outdoors? Do any of you use them outdoors?...I wouldn't want anything too big...and one I could easily fold up when not using. Now on harnesses and sizing. I looked at various harnesses on petco, petsmart, and Amazon online and Im not sure which is best! I'm not aure Im liking the ones with the skinnier straps (!?) Then there are harnesses that have more material..those I like better. I found one on Amazon that's cute: ![]() Any help would be appreciated! Oh. what toy did you first get your yorkie? |
Hi, congratulations on getting your new puppy, how exciting! I've got a metal ex-pen and a soft side w//screen mesh top (found it on ebay). I use both for different times but, if I were to have only one, it would be the soft side one - it's lighter weight, doesn't scratch floors and I like the enclosed top. Puppia is a good harness and is adjustable somewhat. For a puppy you'll probably have to get an xsmall for now, (or smaller depending upon your pups girth size) and will have to buy another once she is an adult. |
Congratulations on your new puppy! For mine I got him a metal ex-pen at Petsmart that is octagon in shape and allows him enough room to run around, have his food and water as well as a puppy pad. Everyone is different but that seems to work great for Oliver! It even attaches to his cage and folds up sooo easily. I sometimes use it as a gate or to keep him from going down the stairs :) As for harnesses, EVERY single puppy harness (even tiny ones) were too big for him when he was 12 weeks (and is still a bit big at 14 weeks). I actually went to Petsmart and got a ferret harness and it works amazingly well! It fits him like a glove and they come in lots of different colors which was pretty neat :) I'm going to get a nicer harness for him when he's full grown but for now this harness works great! Good luck! :) Also, Oliver's first toys were plush squeaky toys and he LOOOOVES them!! Or any type of tiny rope too because he was teething and liked to nibble on that, which was much better than nibbling on mommy's fingers! Any toy should work great though, Oliver also loves his mini tennis ball :) |
