Stairs How long does it normally take for a teacup to go down the stairs? She'll go up no problem whatsoever, but not down them  |
Not sure about a teacup but Samson starting going up the stairs at probably about 10 weeks and down them maybe 3 weeks later. |
Just wanted to add.....it's probably better that they don't go down the steps for as long as possible. Samson came barreling down the steps at 3 months old and jumped down from a couple steps up. He ended up breaking his elbow. :( I don't want to scare you just make sure you watch her. ;) |
I got her at 2 months old and within a week of getting her she was up the stairs.. she goes up, wont come down and just barks at the top of the stairs, now i gate the stairs off. She's going on 4 months old but again a yorkie is all new to me - i've only had dobermans. :aimeeyork |
Hello and welcomet to YT. If I were you, I would say no to the stairs altogether at this age and size. Too many mishaps can happen. |
I never allowed my little Raisin to go down the stairs because she was at many times like a slinky, so she never even attempted it. Dennis is a little smaller, though longer, and has absolutely no problem. He started to run up and down the stairs at 4 months because he did not like to be left. Dennis is the type that has to be with you no matter where you are or where you go, not that Raisin was different, just that she knew that if I went down stairs it was just for the garbage or laundry and not that I was leaving her. I would have preferred that Dennis be content to be carried, so maybe you want to reconsider teaching him. I personally think it is safer and a lot easier. Sue |
Hi and Welcome to YT :wavey: . I would also hold off on teaching him to go down the stairs. When he is ready he will start on his own Mac and Melli were both about 6 months when they started going down on their own. |
