Charlie growls and barks for what I think is no reason Hello everyone and thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post. I am new to this site and came across it while searching for a solution to my girlfriends dogs....problem I guess you could say. He is a 1 year old yorkiepoo named Charlie. Sweetheart of a dog. Sometimes when we are just sitting around doing nothing he will start growling and sometimes even barking. Now it wouldnt catch my attention if he did it for a minute or so. But sometimes he will growl and growl and growl and growl. He will let out these short growls for no apparent reason. I apologize if i'm not explaining this all that well but thanks for your time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Dogs have amazing hearing...maybe he hears something that is inaudible to you. I know my crew hear things way before I hear or see them. |
My dog does that but then a few minutes later I usually hear another dog or person outside, so I guess she just heard them when they were farther away! I usually tap her lightly on the side and do the little Cesar Millan "tch" sound to stop her from growling. |
What is he focusing on? A particular thing, direction, outdoors, indoors, person? Roxy does this too at times. If she's focusing outside I go look, tell her it's OK, and she settles down. It seems to be important to her that I go look. With repetition, he should learn what 'it's OK' means. Learn to read his body language for signals as to what the problem is. |
Yup....it's probably something he's hearing. Brandi does the same thing but most of the time it's just somebody passing by. Now my cat on the other hand is a different story. A few years ago at night when all of the lights were out and the only light was the moonlight coming in through the blinds. My cat would jump on the tv and just sit there and stare at the wall. At first I thought maybe it was a mouse or something but it wasn't. She did this for like a week straight and if freaked me out so much I was scared to sleep in my own room. |
My dog is ridicilious when it comes to barking and growling. Today she was growling at the carpet  it gets so annoying when i'm trying to sleep and all she does is BARK! For no reason. I think she's afraid of the dark, because she mostly does this at night time. |
