Younger then i thought I believe Sienna is much younger then I was told she was when I purchased her no she didnt come with papers for me to check so im trying to figure out just how old she is. She has had one vet appt but i had a free vet visit coupon and they knew that going in so they didnt really check her ( will be changing vets just because of that ) they weighted her on the big dog scale and said she was 2.6 lbs I told them there is NO WAY she is that large and MADE them recheck her on a kitchen scale where she turned out to be a pound and a half ( mommy knows best ) I know that yorkies are different sizes at different ages but she is MUCH smaller then Penny was and Penny was younger when i first got her. Penny was 2.2 pounds at 9 weeks and Sienna was 1.4 lbs at "10" weeks shes very very thin barely has any front teeth poking through her gums i mean TINY she does eat like a horse though. She is supposedly 13 weeks old right now and still very small since the vet didnt do any sort of exam like at all (jerks) i have no idea what her age is I told her to a different vet that would not give her a shot cause it hadnt been long enough inbetween shots and the lady was certian she was 6 weeks I just want to know how old my baby is!! |

I didnt get her from a breeder no she isnt registered they didnt even know enough to get her tail docked at the right age I didnt "buy" her but rescued her from them they were trying to give her to a BYB so i took her instead in essence shes a rescue i know nothing about |
Oh dear that is so sad. Sure glad that you were able to rescue her. How many teeth does she have in her mouth? That is probably a fairly reliable guideline. I would just go with what the vet thinks - six - to seven weeks sounds about right if the incisors aren't fully in yet. |
You should be glad they didn't bob her tail. It's against the law in Europe and they are just beautiful with the tails God intended them to have. Glad she is eating. She'll put on weight naturally. Keep your eye on her and she will thrive |

Size alone will not help you determine her age. Trying to estimate off of the development of her teeth, as your vet did, would probably give you the best guessimate. She certainly sounds a lot younger than 13 weeks. |
they were going to GIVE her to a ladie that was saying how good she would be for her breeding program ...even though she isnt registered..yuck I offered the money we had originally agreed upon cause they were just going to GIVE her to this lady I didnt get her from a breeder but from a couple who decided to breed there dogs and then found out how much work it actually is they said she was 10 weeks but i donno she has about 15-20 teeth guess i'll find out when i take her to my new vet |
It is my quess that she is younger than 13 weeks also |

In any event, it certainly does sound like she is in a MUCH better place now that she is with you. I think it was wise for you to hold off on the shots for another few weeks until she is a bit bigger. And if she's eating well, then that is great. Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job with her and she is lucky to have someone watching out for HER best interest now. :) |
Ive had her for two weeks today and shes only gained half a pound is that an ok gain? im a nut when it comes to puppies gaining weight I think i put Penny on the scale daily when she was little. Sienna is only 2 pounds now maybe a bit more since im using a human scale its not exact |
Pictures? I just checked your profile, I'd love to see pics of Sienna if you have some. |

Well I'm glad you have her now...But i would get her another vet to have her checked over real good....Congrats on your new baby!! :) |
It is possible that she is younger,, But I just wanted to add, that my brother got his puppy at 12 weeks and his front teeth were not in yet, in fact at at 14 weeks his bottom canine's were still not in yet..The vet even told him that he my not have any at all..but the vet said that he might be a slow developer. and it turned out that is exactly what it was..he found out that his puppy was 3 days longer opening his eyes than all of his litter mates.it turned out that he was 16 weeks old before all the teeth came in all the way..He is 5 months old now and completely fine, and smart as can be. so maybe she is just slow in development as well.. |
1 Attachment(s) here she is the little stink |
Awwww...she is too cute!!! |
So Sienna just came back from the vet she is Three weeks younger then they said she is which means she was only 7 weeks old when i got her which means I could have LOST HER at any moment!!!!!!!!!!! IM SO MAD that they lied to me I could just throw up I could kill them I coulda lost my baby good thing im an over protective mother and gave her nutrical anyway i listen to my instincts when i picked her up they said oh ya shes on solied foods and everything..no wonder shes such a little brat she has no family skills at all. So instead of being the 13 weeks shes "supposed " to be today she is only ten weeks old right now and 2 pounds AND she has worms ..or course |

I think someone else already said this, but I just wanted to add that it IS possible if she is tiny that she is older than you think. I have had really tiny pups that didn't get their teeth in until later than their siblings. I had one last year I kept until 6 months old. It took her 4 months to get in all her major teeth...and I KNOW for a fact she was 4 months because I delivered her. ;) So it IS possible, although in your case she may really be younger. She is adorable!!! |
I agree about the teeth. I bought Willow from a wonderful show breeder and at 5.5 mos, when I bought her, she weighed 2 lbs and barely had her teeth showing. She had them all in its just that they were so tiny they were barely showing in the front especially. But, those were baby teeth, now, her permanent teeth are perfect. It's too bad if the breeder didn't even note the date the litter was born. What were the indicators your current Vet used to determine her age? What ever her age, she is a doll and I wish you all the best with her. |
No matter her age, she is just too freakin cute!! |
She is a doll but dont let that face fool you she is piss and vinegar in a tiny little package i just want her to gain some weight |
I didnt mention new vet AWESOME he even got the nurse to clip her nails before i could even ask As soon as i walked in they remembered my other dog even though she hasnt been there in SIX years asked about her i donno why i ever stopped going there god there wonderful Sissy screamed when she got her first shot this time not a peep ...amazing...sissy tried to bite him lol |
