New to owning Morkie breed Hello, we recently bought a Morkie, she was 8 weeks old when we got her. I took her to the vet the next day and when he weighed her she only weighed 13 ounces. So...he was not able to treat her for the rice-like worms that she had in her poop. She goes back on Friday for her 2nd round of vacs, but here are my main concerns. 1. We have never owned a dog this size so I am not sure what to expect. 2. She keeps getting poop stuck to her bottom, even after I trimmed. 3. How big will she get? 4. Can anyone give me grooming tips. Her hair is very soft, and I don't want it to get matted. Thanks a bunch! |
She is most likely going to be small but just to let you know my girl was 12 oz at 8 weeks and shes 6 1/2 lbs now so size really more depends on genetics and sizes of parents grandparents and so on. When mine were pups their poop was alot softer than it iks now and it often got attached. All you can do is keep that area trimmed short and know that their poop will get firmer. A good shampoo and conditioner is what I would suggest for the coat. I have one that has the soft coat and I use Biogroom products for him. You will probably just want to experiment with different products untill you find one that works for you. Good luck with the new baby |
I have two morkies. My male is 5 months old and my female is 10 weeks. At 10 weeks old they both weighed the same...3.8 lbs. The breeder (same one for both) told me that they will be between 6 & 7 lbs. Calvin's hair is more straight and Bella's is very fluffy, like cotton balls. Calvin has been groomed a couple of times already but not Bella. I have puppy wipes that I use on them when they come in from outside going potty. They seem to work for me... |
