ohhhh noooooooo.... i spoke, i mean, i typed toooooo soon..... I got home after work today and it's bad down..... what to do... what to do? let it be? or tape it? |
Hopefully someone can help me with a decision. I found a really cute female Yorkie that I would like to buy. Parents are both AKC. One parent ears are up, the dad, one up one not so up. I will get bashed and say these are not breeders that cared if they stood up. They had the parents from puppies and they were just pets for them. They loved them either way. Anyway, the puppies are still 8 weeks. Their ears are not up. They have not shaved the ears or anything at this point to help them stand. I guess my question is, is genetics just genetics and no measure of taping can correct it OR by taking measures to help them stand can you potentially overcome that? |
I got Zoe when she was 6 weeks old. Both of her parents had floppy ears. I started taping her's the second day we had her. She doesn't like to keep the tape on either. I figured the vet could do a better job of taping. NOT SO! Zoe took the tape off within a couple of hours of coming home. She is now almost 5 months old (taped off and on for about 3 1/2 months) and both ears aren't as floppy as before but about half does fold down. I prefer the erect ears because I heard they can have more ear infections if down because air can't get in. I would suggest you be diligent with the taping as soon as possible...if it means a lot to you. Otherwise they are just as cute (or maybe even more so) with their floppy ears. |
