Disgusting question about poop! Sorry:) Last night my pup had a poop that stuck to his behind. Yes, we had a bath at 2am....:D Then this morning it happened AGAIN! Literally, all over him! All I can describe it as is 'sticky'. Not runny or diarrhea...just sticky. Does this mean he is constipated? I gave him a tiny lick of karo syrup this morning hoping that it would loosen it up just a tiny bit and I trimmed the hair around his hiny:eek: What else can I do???? |
you have already done what i would have suggested....just also....with all my dogs i also shave about an inch out on the underneath of their tails...keeps the ""dungleberries" as we call them down |
Some poops are stickier than others but it usually means they have too much hair on their behinds. It always happens to mine when they need a groom |
It could have been the hair needed to be trimmed. If a pup is constipated (straining while trying to pass stool), a bit of canned pure pumpkin can do the trick. The only ingredient listed on the label will be pumpkin. |
this happens to Sienna almost daily i cant clip her butt hair cause shes my demon child and will not allow it...i swear im gonna slip her some benadryl |
Keeping the clipped around that area helps alot! |
We have a hard time with the trimming also since I groom Ziva myself. I keep a pack of diaper wipes at the garage door before she tries to clean up herself (scooting on the door mat- yuck!) |
Thanks everyone! He has not been groomed yet so that could be the reason. I will try and keep that fur at bay 'down there'. I usually do use wipes when he is done...silly to wipe a dog's bobo everytime he goes:D but this just wouldn't come off! It got everywhere! Ugh! And all over my rugs.... |

lol....welcome to my world. Brandi won't let me shave her bum so I use the wipes in between groomings. Brandi will let me do everything else except that. |
The first time Zeke got poop stuck on his rear, he ran around the house screaming like a banchee. I think he thought something had a hold of his rear. It was so funny. |
Definitely keep him clean down there! However, even when Jackson's hair gets longer (he also has a full tail) he's never had poop stuck to his butt unless he has an unusual case of diarrhea, maybe happened like twice. Poo should be firm (hehe TMI i know) and not runny. It shouldn't be sticking to his butt everyday. Sometimes food can be a problem too, overfeeding or bad food. Good luck! |
Once in a great while one of mine will get a 'clingon' and it just requires lots and lots of baby wipes. It usually means time to tuck their head under my arm, hold their hiney over the trash can and use the electric clippers on their butt. They look ridiculous afterwards but it saves on baby wipes. |
Lucy seems to get lots of 'clingons'. Must be time for a good grooming. I am tired of cleaning poop off of everyone's butt! Thought I was done with that when my son got out of diapers. Tonight, had to give Ringo a bath because he didn't have a clingon - it was more like another appendage attached to his body. Whew. Two dogs; a kid; a full-time job can sure keep you moving! |
