Last night I posted this in the health and Food forum But no such luck..thats why i'm posting here..thanks


I just woke up yo izzy crying in her pen, which is not like her...Took her outside and she had diarrhea. I got some samples of Wellness small breed dog food ( because she was getting bored with natural balnce, VERY VERY picky ) and i mixed some in with her natural balance..She picked out wellness and eat that ONLY.. When she was done she looked at me like I was witholding a treat so I gave her alittle more (yes i know, very stupid!)

So could eating the Wellness give her diarrhea?

For some reason iron gut Lady can't tolerate Wellness. It gave her loose stools and bad gas. I've heard others say that, too.

I have heard the same thing but i also hear SOOOO many good thing about Wellness and I like that it is alittle higher in protein then Natural balance ( NB 23 grams & Wellness 28 grams). And looking on the grading scale it scored 5stars where NB scored 4 stars..Aghhhhhh IT's DOG FOOD!!!! It's driving me nuts...lolol..But I guess if it's giving her dierrhea then it's out.:(

Could it just be because she picked out only the new food and left her normal stuff alone? Maybe it was just too big of a shock for her. Or maybe she has an underlying tummy issue going on that just happened to coincide with the switch.

Poor baby. I hate it when they can't tell us exactly what is going on.

Either Sophie or Max, could tolerate Wellness, after many, many food trials, we ended up with Acana Grassland, I highly recommend it, of course once you have rule out any health problems, but it sounds like food related.Hope she feels better soon

There was a recall announced on Natural Balance recently, did you check the batch # against the food you have?
I have Teegy on Wellness and his poops are good, she may just not have a tolerance for it.

Yes I did check her food for being recalled and it wasn't BUT that was another reason for switching her food...She doesn't have tummy issues.
She just seems board with the Natural Balance. I have found that the only way she will eat is when I hand feed her or if she thinks the other dogs are going to eat her food then she goes nuts. She kind of a bully when it comes to food.:animal36

But today she has not wanted to eat anything but her chicken breast. And she in heat day 8 and she's a mess :(....I have noticed thast shes pretty calm during this time...and it's really hot here in lower Michigan right now. So maybe it's a combo of everything:confused:..I don't know..I just wished she could tell me whats wrong:(
